Dutch Fork players

Dec 10, 2021, 9:31 AM

It is not very often I have personnel knowledge of players we recruit but in the case of Will Taylor and Antonio Williams I do. And I can tell you these are just two first class young men, not just athletes. Will Taylor gave up the opportunity to make millions as the 7th round overall pick in the MLB draft. Antonio has been bombarded by gamecocks, to include some DF coaches, but he was patient and Clemson was were his heart was. I was only worried if it was one of those cases where it was not all "his decision". These two young men are truly "all-in".

Next year Jarvis Green will be a SR. I know Jarvis has taken visits to Clemson (not sure where he is on Clemson's board) but he is another great kid, who would be a great player and locker room guy. With Antonio and Will there I think we stand a great chance if we go in that direction.

With these guys it has given me real work examples that this whole Clemson Family, developing young men, we recruit character mantra is more than just a recruiting line ... as that is exactly what these young men are.

I think Williams is the best player to ever come through Dutch Fork! He is exactly the change of pace WR we need to run the slot(imo). Glad is also a great kid who I know Dabo and Clemson will develop in a great Man!!

He mistyped in his post.

Will Taylor was called and offered as the 7th overall pick and turned down the opportunity because he was set on attending Clemson.

I know a few people who are close to him and apparently it came down to the fact that while he knows baseball is his ticket in sports, he absolutely loves football (much more than baseball) and wasn't yet ready to give up playing.

Combine that with the fact that he and his family fell in love with Dabo's program specifically, and you have a kid who decided to turn down a huge sum of money to go to college.

I really hope it works out for him in the long run because in the little bit of time I have been around Will, it seems like everything the OP said about his work ethic and him as a person is completely spot on.

I should be so fortunate to one day get the burden of helping my son decide which decision to make in relation to him signing on a dotted line for millions of dollars.

Well couple of million. you are correct about the $100k slot for 7th round, but if a team wants to take a chance drafting him in round 7 they can offer him 1st round money.
