Actually it re-exists with a passion.

We haven't had flu for a year thanks to masking, lockdowns, and social distancing and our immune systems aren't geared up to fight it this year. We had next to no collective flu last year, and that might not be the best thing for a recurring bug. Immunity fades over time.

So it's likely gonna be a savage flu season...as a direct result. One thing to keep in mind is that flu started as a pandemic much like COVID with the Spanish Influenza back in 1918, and then it settled into a less virulent recurring form and instead of killing a half-million Americans a year it settled for killing just 20K. A lot of medical-type folks think COVID could well do something similar. (The problem is COVID is a far more complex bug than flu and we still haven't mapped out quite what it can and cannot do, which still freaks virologists out. There's more possibility it could do something strange...and really dangerous.)

The difference between flu and COVID is a level-2 and level-3 biohazard. But Spanish Influenza was assuredly originally a level 3...we just collectively adapted to it a lot better before it settled into the kind-sorta "acceptable" level-2 flu is today. (Level 2 is still not that great, and you don't wanna be around a ton of that stuff. You'll be sick...like, really sick.)

I had a savage case of Type-A flu just before we found out that COVID-19 existed. I started feeling the effects on December 29, 2019. It didn't completely go away until mid-February 2020.

I dunno if you're being tongue-in-cheek or not but a lot of folks think COVID got over here before it "officially" got over here, if you follow. A lot of folks especially in the medical sector have said they started showing COVID-type symptoms in December 2019. I've talked to at least three or four myself.

I've heard a lot of talk the pandemic probably started about when you're talking, not March or April 2020 as is commonly stated.

The key seems to be "viral load"...which means, in less fancy talk, how much virus you get up your nose. Medical professionals, being constantly exposed, would get that higher dose much quicker...well before the general population started showing a lot of symptoms.

Covid as NOT in the US before 1/2020. I have heard from patients for #### near 2 years that they had Covid in the fall of 2019. THEY DID NOT. Nobody was was in the ICU or passing from viral illness until Feb/March of 2020. There was no Covid in the US at that time and we know this because we can look at the ICUs in that time frame.

Just saying, I've heard personally from several health-care professionals (doctors and nurses) who got really sick as early as December 2019.

Might have just been an especially virulent strain of flu, but apparently you've heard it much as I have. Something was going around that time-frame that was out of the ordinary, and there's an obvious suspect.

Nov 7, 2021, 2:22 AM

to say that Covid was not here prior to January 2020 (the travel ban was issued January 10th if memory serves me correctly) is probably short sighted due to the sheer volume of people traveling internationally at the time. Having said that, there is no way to prove it.

Convinced I had Covid

Nov 7, 2021, 3:25 AM

in Mid November, 2019.

- 6 days of a fever,
- lost taste for 4-5 days
- dry non productive cough for 11 weeks,
- Shortness of breath for months (was really bad for several weeks)
- Relapse on Christmas Day
- Stomach Issues for months
- Brain fog for months.

Got it after a week of working with people in the footwear industry, many of whom who travel to China, or work directly with others who travel to China. I wasn't alone either, several others got really sick as well.

With the relapse, I saw a doctor and she said it was pneumonia or the flu. She said "we're going to call it bacterial bronchitis, but we don't really know what this is, but we've been seeing it a lot the last few weeks". She prescribed antibiotics and Promethazine w/ Codeine for the cough.

It took me 6 days to find a pharmacy who had any Promethazine in stock, around Atlanta. Not lying, I may have called over 35-45 locations. Most every pharmacist said the same thing to me: they had never seen so many scripts for Promethazine lately, and that something different was going around.

I had several friends who got Covid, with bad symptoms, and their symptoms were identical to what I had. Even more intriguing, many of them had a relapse 6-8 weeks later, just like I did.

Lastly, my wife got sick after a few days, and she went to the doctor and they said she didn't have the Flu, but they gave her antibiotics and told her she would probably get a cough. Doctor told her something was going around, and that she should expect a dry non productive cough.

Re: Convinced I had Covid

Nov 7, 2021, 8:21 AM

Same here. I worked three tables at a gun show in early December 2019, within a week I came down with very similar symptoms. In less than a week so did my wife. We were so sick we cancelled all Christmas plans. I did not recover sufficiently until February to resume half-way normal activities and with my wife it was March. We received the normal flu treatment and it did not work.

I think I saw a report that said Covid could have been in our country as early as October 2019. One thing I am sure of is this disease has been used as a political weapon and Fauchi has lied about the origin of Covid and his part in developing this virus!

Guess we will never know when it was here
but not being in or having to got to the ICU
does not mean someone did not have covid 19
Not everyone who has had covid 19 even went to a hospital
I know someone who went to the Doctor in Nov 2019
with what they thought was a cold or the flu
When the test came out early 2020 Doctor called them
and advised them they had the Covid 19 in Nov 2019
it was not the Flu or just a cold because they also
had the same conditions again blood work and test
were the same both times

I'm just citing CDC reports. If you have a problem, take it up with them.

I myself would tend to trust the experts. No, they're not perfect. But are you one of those guys who runs into the cockpit of the 747 you're riding in and tries to yank the controls away from the pilots? Because generally that ends even more badly.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dude you’re a total joke.

Nov 7, 2021, 2:04 AM

Just like the other guy said, he used to be a smart guy. Then you went off the deep end with Covid like so many other intelligent people. You’ve been brainwashed. And please stop telling me you’re a libertarian because there is nothing libertarian about you. Libertarians I know would laugh at you.

And I love the way you said listen to the experts. Which experts? The experts on CNN and in the mainstream media? Are the tens of thousands of experts around the world that think completely differently but are being censored by the media and big tech?

Sweden handled Covid completely differently and did just as well or better than the rest of the world.

Florida has not done white New York and California have done and they have done just as good or better. They have it destroyed millions of lives and families and the economy. And have had better results.

And I saw your post above. Covid is the flu. They are all coronaviruses.

And the flu did not start in 1918. My God. Are you really that brainwashed? The flu has been around for a very very long time. The reason so many 29 and 30-year-olds died in 1918 is because of a flu that happened 30 years earlier. An earlier epidemic.

We have actually had last night about different types of flu over the last 20 years more deadly than Covid. H1N1, MERS, SARS, were all actually more deadly than Covid.

It’s like the Delta variant. More contagious but less deadly but to listen to the news you would think it’s far more deadly.

Do UK has decided not to vaccinate people 18 and under. Some of the Scandinavian countries have Ashley stop using some of the vaccines.

We do not have a vaccine. We have a glorified flu shot. In fact the data shows that natural immunity is better than getting the vaccine which makes sense because a vaccine or a flu shot is just a milder form to help jumpstart the immune system. Ashley having Covid or a coronavirus does far more to your system than a vaccine which is why natural immunity is far superior.

This vaccine was created and approved in less than 24 months. The FDA normally takes 5 to 10 years to approve a drug.

I mean I could go on all day. There are far more adverse effects than what the media is telling people. Far more young people are having heart problems from the vaccine than from Covid. Less than 1500 people under the age of 25 have died from Covid. Less than 600 people under the age of 18 have died. They don’t need the vaccine yet the government wants to mandate it. Poor children. That is effing insane because no one knows what the long-term effects of this will be.

You aren’t listening to data and science you’re being brainwashed by the government and the media. Something an open minded intelligent independent creative thinking person would never do. Something a libertarian certainly would never do.

As the other guy said, you have gone off the deep end. You have been brainwashed.

I'm in the UK and they are vaccinating under 18s. I trust the experts mainly because I know a lot of them in the field. They are constantly analysis data and yes their decisions change over time based on that data.

As for the Floridas/ New York comparison You also have to realise you don't have the density of people in places like Florida compared to New York. I grew up in SC and you are alone in your car and when you go to a shop it's not really full. Now I live in London and I'm on the Tube with 150 people crammed in the tube with literally 10 people within 10cm of may face for the journey.
Well I'm tired of discussing health related things with people because it is pointless. Oddly it seems to exist on political ideologies. That's where the true problem lies.

Don't know where you've been getting the information for your "research", but influenza viruses and coronaviruses are not the same. You have no credibility when you can get simple facts correct.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Dude you’re a total joke.

Nov 7, 2021, 7:49 AM [ in reply to Dude you’re a total joke. ]

A few points:

Influenza is not a corona virus.

H1N1 is an influenza virus.

MERS and SARS were caused by coronoviruses.

The vaccine is a vaccine. The "glorified flu shot" you referenced is a vaccine. Look up the definition of vaccine. (Incidentally, needing a booster doesn't mean it isn't a vaccine; think tetanus for you, or a rabies vaccine for your dog).

I looked at death rates (covid deaths per capita) in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, France, US, UK, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan a week or so ago. Sweden performed slighlty worse than most, but better than us. The eastern countries have orders of magnitude fewer deaths per capita. They were using and continue to use incredibly restrictive practices and started testing months before we did.

As someone else said, spread depends on a lot of factors - population density, which strains hit, when they hit, weather, etc.

If I were you I would use different sources of information. Yours are demonstrably wrong and it ruins your credibility.

Lowcntry_Tiger® people like you are the reason that it's easy for fools to gain a following. You mention that Florida has done things differently than NY but had essentially the same result with Covid. Maybe you might have noticed that Covid tore thru the northeast prior to anyone really having an idea what the heck it was and prior to there being any knowledge of how to treat Covid patients? NY had over 1000 deaths/day in April/May 2020. FL has had three spikes since that time, including over 400 deaths/day in Aug 2021. Sweden has done well with Covid?

Sweden has recorded more COVID-19 cases per capita than most countries so far: Since the start of the pandemic, roughly 11 out of every 100 people in Sweden have been diagnosed with COVID-19, compared with 9.4 out of every 100 in the UK and 7.4 per 100 in Italy. Sweden has also recorded around 145 COVID-19 deaths for every 100,000 people — around three times more than Denmark, eight times more than Finland, and nearly 10 times more than Norway.

Others have commented here, but I'll add that my best friend was the lead epidemiologist on all 3 of those other outbreaks: H1N1, MERS, and SARS. Worldwide, fewer than 1,000 people died from both the 2012 MERS outbreak and the 2002 SARS outbreak. Depending on different estimates, somewhere between 200,000 and 500,000 people died from the 2009 Swine Flu (H1N1) outbreak. So far, over 5 Million people worldwide have died from COVID.

Why is it racist to call it the China virus, but not racist to say the Spanish Flu? Or the Nile Virus for the people of the Nile river? Or the Zika Virus since it started in the Zika forest of Uganda? Seems like a lot of viruses are named based on where they originated from....

I know this one. The Russian flu didn't start in Russia. The Spanish flu didn't start in Spain. Even west Nile didn't start in west Nile.

Spain was pegged with in 1919 because it was during WW1. The Germans needed some country to blame, it also gave them an economic trade advantage. Would you want to accept goods from a Spanish ship or a German ship?

Similar stories about the other outbreak s you mentioned. So 20 years ago the U.N/w.h.o decided not identify virus by county. So now you have h1n1 or COVID 19 etc.

Agree or disagree that's a brief history of naming virus

Re: Several ESPN reporters tweeting Mullen said up to 30

Nov 7, 2021, 9:03 AM

We cured the flu b/c everyone who had the flu was diagnosed with Covid. the PCR test can't differentiate between Influenza A and B and Covid. When we locked down, hospitals couldn't do elective surgeries. In order to make up for the loss of revenue from elective surgeries, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement gave a flat fee for any "COVID" patient. Healthcare is a business. That's why anyone with a positive PCR test that died, regardless of cause, died of COVID.

And on the PCR test.... if you have ever had COVID or had the vaccine, the chances are pretty good that if you get tested within a year, you will be positive b/c the test rapidly grows whatever DNA is on the q-tip and recognizes RNA fragments.... not intact RNA (COVID is a single strand RNA virus). If there are ANY RNA fragments from COVID, it pops hot.

Follow the science.... unless it doesn't fit your agenda.
