Driving directions question for ya

While back somebody asked about a better route to drive from the Charlotte area down into Florida without traveling through Columbia to I-95 South….Wasn’t there a route to go which put you out onto 95 closer to Hilton Head exit off 95 ? Thanks for any info

26 to 601 at Orangeburg to Hardeeville or hit 278 and hit 95 a little more north. Disclaimer: I haven't driven those in a while.

601 to 321 to I95 would do it. It would take an extra hour and a half but it would certainly be more scenic and less stressful.

Alls I can say is don’t fall for the directions from the guy that says turn before where the old railroad tracks used to be.
I ended up in Richmond…..

If the goal is to stay off I-95, take I-85 to Spartanburg, get on I-26 to Hwy 72 and go to Greenwood and head toward Augusta thru McCormick. Between McCormick and Augusta, turn right and go over the Lake Thurmond ### and head through the middle of Georgia all the way to Florida. US 1 goes all the way through Georgia. Not a fast route but plenty of sights and no backups on 95.

You can select avoid freeways on most map software.

26 and 95 are parking lots during the summer weekends during the day. Late night and early morning not so bad.

There is no better route, but there are better times to do it. Drive it at night, but not Friday or Sunday night. I've made great time on I-95 driving Saturday after 5 p.m.
