Re: Phil Steele calls SCAR 2nd most overrated team in top 25

I think that Mr. Steele is right. I keep hearing that this is one of the best Gamecock teams ever. They have a good defensive line, but their linebackers are mediocre, their cornerbacks are average, and they will not be a good passing team. I would be very surprised if they defeated LSU, Florida, Georgis,or Arkansas. Missouri, Tennessee, and Clemson will give them some very tough games, also. They will miss Gilmore, Robertson,Jeffery, and Ingram big time.

after Petrino scandal, and like half the WR's are gone. Either to NFL or kicked off team. Wilson is a good QB though.

He blames it on schedule, but I think

what is being overlooked is the loss of talent and defensive coordinator. Those are two very big IFs along with a tough schedule. Who knows how Lattimore's recovery will affect him.
Nothing would thrill me more than to see A&M and Mizzou cruise through the "big boy" league. Unfortunately, I think Mizzou was a one and done a few years ago, and nobody can cruise through the west.

when it comes to opinion but I have issues with his reason.
"The Gamecocks were #11 in my last blog, but now move up a spot thanks to WVU’s move to the Big 12 and the fact that HC Spurrier welcomes in another talented incoming frosh class. The Gamecocks do return 13 starters including QB Connor Shaw and get back RB Marcus Lattimore who missed the last six games with a knee injury. They also get last year’s SEC East winner Georgia at home."
I'm working on why being in a particular conference would help or hurt an honest opinion of where a team should be ranked.
Using his logic if USuCk was in the Big East they would be ranked much higher. Now, while it makes sense that they would win more games how could one call them a better team? He applies that very logic to WVU and the Big 12 move.

Last year Vandy gave Carolina a tough game. Vandy's quarterback was awful. They have Rogers relative at quarterback this year and he could cause some problems. Vandy had a good secondary last year and if they can slow down Carolina's rushing game they may pull an upset. It is very possible.
