Don't think Dukes leaving is CJs fault

But with Rencher getting more carries than him and Brown returning punts instead of the more athletic Dukes, who could blame him for wanting to leave? Yes... CJ could be the reason Rencher has gotten more carries, but I believe this weird fascination of playing 5 heart players over more talent players comes from higher up.

good enough to start for a lot of programs, and he may be better off exploring that opportunity. Good football players want to play. That's what I'm going with until we know different. The stuff about CJ is nothing but speculation.

NIL means it is no longer about just playing. These kids probably have sports agents chirping into their ears that they can get them $$$ to go play at school X or Y. Especially for kids without definite NFL futures, I don't blame any of them for taking the opportunity to make some money off football while they can. If I was their financial advisor I would be telling them to do it too. Very few have serious academic goals, if they did they would never transfer, as this makes a mess of trying to graduate in most majors.

we will never be asked back to CHarlotte to play in the Duke Classic after this. Alienating mayo millionaires is not the way to go.

Dukes can't hold onto the ball.
Do you really want him returning punts in all of these 1 score games?

Sad to see him go. Kept up with him when he was playing HS ball in Charleston. Had a lot of potential. Couldn't hold onto the #### ball.

Depth chart was always going to be an issue for Dukes, as was ball security. Heard he couldn't pick up the playbook, either.

You want to expand the role of a player that fumbles every 3-5 touches.

He went to freaking first baptist in Charleston, a SCISA school, he was a 2/3 star, he ain’t that good, that’s why he isn’t playing and he’s been fumble prone on top of it. I don’t understand why everyone wants to post all this wild stuff every time a player transfers…. The answer is the obvious one, he was last on the depth chart and probably shouldn’t have picked to come to Clemson in the first place, he was always a raw project.

I think it is kinda CJ’s fault in a roundabout way, but not in the way you think:

The advent of CJ was the advent of star power on our roster, which has only intensified in recent years. Dukes has now fallen victim to the exceeding talent on the current roster and what is sure to follow, so he’s taking his capabilities somewhere where they can be utilized in games.
So in that way, it is CJ’s fault that he so elevated the individual talent level of our roster…

I never thought he would finish at Clemson even when we signed him. He was in way over his head and was a last second fallback plan for us. He is more of a Citadel type player, maybe Presbyterian.
