Bates didn't get a single DL commit in 2022

This may have been in the works for a while. Travis Shaw even alluded to not seeing eye to eye with Bates.

They may not be a bad thing because our DL recruiting was not looking good. Perhaps Bates was focused on other things.

As the coordinator it seemed Jeff Scott was involved with a lot of our big recruits.

I assume Bates was the same way. He liked to write them poems.

They do both. I'm certain his main focus was on DL recruiting, however.

I guess his departure was more than “just smoke on the message boards” as someone stated earlier. Did he leave us high and dry by not signing any DT’s to this point? If leaving or he thought he was - did he try 110% knowing he was leaving?
