Chemchem has the story close, but he's missing one detail. The ACC needs Notre Dame to help the falling ACC network. It's not carried in major tv markets. But the Irish still want to play Army and Navy every year. So the Irish have asked that army and navy count as conference games. Even when no one else plays them. Which is bull. Maybe they want easy wins. So maybe the ACC should just add them. I really don't know.
The ACC screwed up letting UCF and it 60k enrollment in a big tv market, go.

Notre Dame's deal with NBC doesn't end till 2025. So can the ACC wait that long or can Notre Dame break the contract. It's 15 million a year, i guess they would need more than that.

Yes, because Army ,Navy and UCONN don't do anything for the conference and Notre Dame isn't going to join the conference.
And West Virginia is not a part of the conference unless asked to join.

Why is UCONN even a thought for the ACC, we've lived through a history of Uconn like schools in the ACC, why on earth would the thought of bringing Uconn into the ACC ever be a thought for Clemson fan. We have more that our share of Uconn's in the ACC that kills our strength of schedule already, why make it worse than it already is!!!!

No, because you have your three teams with the most football pedigree (historically) in the same division, in FSU Miami and Clemson. need to put them in different divisions. otherwise you would run into the same situation we had a few years ago and typically in the ACC championship where its one big team and someone else from the coastal.

millions of extra SEC dollars, so that ain't happening. West Virginia would probably jump at a chance to bail out on the shrinking Big 12. The other additions would be purely fillers who brought nothing to the table.
Oh, and Notre Dame will never join as long as they have a separate TV deal.

No, because you've added crappy teams that bring absolutely nothing to the table and dilute the revenue pool.
Unless you see some way to add them to the conference but not have to give them money.

The only way adding those dregs including Kentucky makes it a super conference is in basketball, and that is looking to the past than current or future times.

First, just make a simple trade so that schools with things in common are aligned. The SEC trades Kentucky, Vandy, & South Carolina to the ACC for Clemson, FSU & Miami (in the hopes that FSU & Miami can regain their mojo). That would be a first step towards your Super Conference realignment coming down the road.
