Just look at John Rittman's track record while at Stanford in 18 years there and his 10 years on the United States National Team coaching staff, that should tell you all you need to know...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rittman

I read it. Wish I hadn’t. Wasn’t aware he left Stunford over major NCAA violations.

Rittman is a great coach but don’t overlook Jamieson’s contribution. Jamieson is the pitching coach and has a sharp eye for talent. He recruited 3 major contributors in our starting 9 to Furman. They followed him the Clemson. Furman was on the verge of being really good when he was hired by Rittman. Clemson softball has a really, really good overall staff.

Yes, because recruiting with no history is easier

than recruiting with a bad history.
Plus, softball players are competing for partial scholarships and not full scholarships, so factors like cost of attendance and geography matter more.
In addition, they generally care more than most basketball players do about academics since they aren’t going to make a living playing professional softball. In other words, softball recruiting isn’t nearly as much about being a softball powerhouse as it is about recruiting players who like the school and their teammates.
HTH.

CU Softball has a much higher ceiling than CU Basketball. Look at how many players on our softball roster are from SC, Northern Georgia and Western NC. When you can make a living recruiting within your home state or within 100 miles of campus your life is good.

There are 286 Division I colleges with a women’s softball program. Only 25 of them are ranked right now and Clemson is one of them. Don’t dis on a Clemson program that is winning and ranked nationally after only two years. Go crawl back into your Brad Brownell sanctuary.

That south carolina, ...and especially the upstate is a hotbed for softball talent.
If travel ball wasn't so popular and people still played little league / Dixie youth.. you would hear about it more.

For a team that has played less than one full season...

I think it's fair to say they have exceeded expectations.
They don't play FSU in the regular season so hopefully they'll get a crack at the Noles in the ACCT (hopefully the championship game).
It would be fun seeing how this team matches-up again perennial softball powers like UCLA, Florida, and Arizona.
