Does Clemson need to keep up with SEC and BIG schools?

If you look back to the Penn Quakers in 1938-1942 you will see:

Had one of the largest stadium’s in America
Drew 1,780,000 fans in four years
Outside of 38-42 and including they won parts of 7 national championships
They played all of the big programs of that day; Army, Navy, Notre Dame, Virginia and others
They played in the Rose Bowl

They were one of the premier teams of their day, but did not keep up with the rest of college football. Now most people couldn’t name their stadium, know who their coach is or what their record was last year.
Clemson cannot afford to be behind the SEC and BIG by 30-35 million a year even for just 3-4 years.
That is why it is crucial they breakaway now and plan to join one of those conferences by 2025/2026.

I know it is just a small detail ……… they just can’t join the conference they choose. They have to be invited..
Maybe it will happen .
