Does anybody have DishNet?

Aug 21, 2013, 9:22 AM

I currently have AT&T DSL and it is constantly going out for no reason. I also wanted to get rid of my home phone to save money but if I did so the price of the internet service would go up. Not to mention their costumer service is HORRIBLE! I thought about Uverse but like I said, I'm trying to save money and I know my bill would go up after the promo. I currently have Dish Network for my TV and have no complaints. Their customer service is great and I could get a 20 GB plan for the same thing I pay now with AT&T, and increase my speed from 6 mbps to 10 mbps. What do ya'll think? Is it worth it? BTW I can't get Verizon or Comcast.

Hey kiggity I have DishNet. Out here in the country it is the only thing I can get. It is the same as Hughesnet if that helps. I work from home so internet is important to me. I have the 30 GB program. Be careful. They tell you you have 30 GB (20 GB in your case) but it is really only 15 GB during "peak hours" and 15 GB during off peak. Off peak is like from midnight to eight or something. We like it ok but it is not faster than the dsl I had before. It is "up to" 10 mbps. I rarely see that. 15 GB during peak means that there is no Netflix, SmartTV, etc. I watch the usage closely because like I said I need it for work and once you reach the 15 GB limit they slow you down dramatically. Customer service has been great! Hope this helps. Ask any questions you like and I will try to answer what I can.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a bit of a pain, which I anticipated with a limited plan. My family does love their netflix. At this point I'm almost willing to do anything to get off of AT&T though, if I could get it for the same price. Other than DishNet it's the only game in town and their customer service reps seem to know it. The plan I was talking about is 49.99/month. Do you also have to pay an equipment rental fee? If so that would put it at around the same price as my internet and home phone from AT&T and would eliminate the advantage of getting rid of the home phone.

Dishnet sucks, they have horrible customer service. They over charged me $500 for installation and refused to refund the money, even after I cancelled service. They charged me 125$ for a metal poll to mount the satellite to (same one was 6$ at lowes). Plus it's ridiculously expensive, And will still go out every time a rainstorm comes.

I have to agree about the rainstorm but not the customer service. My install was free and the guy was here for about 6 hours. He gave me his number that I can call anytime if I have a problem.

There is a rental fee for the modem of $10/month or you can just buy one. They have a list of modems that will work.
