If you read the article, Feldman also does not think Venables is a strong candidate due to his forced departure.

After the 2011 season, many Oklahoma folks, including Big Game Bob himself were unhappy with Brent's defenses being lit up like a Christmas tree in the Big 12. So they brought in Bob's brother -- not the one at Kentucky, I believe Mike, to be "co-coordinator." Rather than take the demotion, Venables packed up and came to Clemson after we got lit up by West Virginia.
The rest, as they say, is history.

Day, 2012.
Venables became the Clemson DC after Steele was fired in January of 2012.
That 70 points from WVA was on Kevin Steele, not Venables.

get a call to speak to their leaders to consider him as the next Oklahoma Head Coach?
I've seen Venables listed as low as 7th on one writers list of replacement. After Monday, you really haven't heard a lot from Oklahoma on Venables.

What he said was, Venables got busted down when Brother Stoops got fired from his HCing duties for Arizona. Rich Rod got that job, then Brent came to Clemson after Steele got fired directly after the Orange Bowl.
I can still remeber Dabo saying, "Hopefully they (media/everyone) will be talking about the Clemson D tomorrow (after the game)," and boy were they ever, just not in the way Dabo meant in that on filed pregame interview.

I read his detailed bio, but I don't see any expertise that suggests he would be a voice to help Oklahoma select their next head coach.
