A big win at Duke to start the season would really set the tone, early, in my honest opinion.

10 plus wins again. We could have a very good season... only time will tell.
Go Tigers!!!

Not sure - we've lost several good people on defense but....

will be interesting to see how much more dynamic and effective our offense is under the new OC.

I think we will have a solid season. We have a favorable schedule early on which should allow us to work out the kinks and communication of the new offense. A good season always seems to come down to key injuries. During our playoff runs, we had fewer key injuries but the last couple of seasons were not as kind. I hope we can get back to the good luck side of injuries and play to our potential.

I think people often miss the role played by injuries in a season.

If the new OC can teach Cade to climb the pocket instead of backpedaling 20 yards when pressured we will win 12.

He does back peddle a lot. Hopefully he will also work with him on not throwing the ball with so much loft.

It will help if the OL can sustain a nice pocket and keep him from having to run for his life on every other play...

If we can stay away from injuries, I think we can contend for a spot in the ACC Championship game.

Is the schedule set yet?

Jan 26, 2023, 1:45 PM

I see the "Future Schedules" thing... that just lists the teams, not the order/schedule...

It isn't set that I know of but I saw something that seemed to indicate the first 3 projected games would not be as difficult.

Strangely enough, it may hinge on the defense

1

Jan 26, 2023, 2:23 PM

You can say what you want about injuries and blah blah blah but the defense was extraordinarily underwhelming this past season. Seemingly lost all its aggressive style and attitude under WG. So thats going to have to get better. I think the offense will look like a COMPLETELY different team than we have seen in many years. We FINALLY have a real OC that we havent had since Chad Morris.

Things should be better. I think Clemson potential is up, and we all will be impressed.

Even if close losses to ND and FSU - still solid

Lose outside of those then down.

Jan 26, 2023, 4:36 PM

I think we win at least one of those - 11 wins - ACC champs - CFP.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We won't make the CFP with just 11 wins, because that would

Jan 26, 2023, 11:45 PM

mean we'd have two losses. We ain't getting in the CFP with two losses, because it's still only a 4 team playoff this year!

Sorry sam

I was thinking chronologically - 11 regular season wins - then the ACC championship (12 wins) then the CFP.

This offense will be greatly improved. The last 2 seasons were terrible in relationship to the talent that is recruited. I really think it was coaching and so did Dabo. The 2022 defense really surprised me. I really thought it would be a top 3 defense in the country. Maybe I thought WG wouldn't miss a beat after Venables left. Hopefully his second year will be much better.
This team can make the playoffs but it has work to do.

If we don’t make the playoffs, it is a failed year IMO***

I'm optimistic that it will be a good football season. Riley did a masterful job working with the TCU QB--turning him into a Heisman contender and then a finalist.
