DJU will not struggle

Apr 7, 2022, 4:12 PM

Early this season he will be in media as a Heisman candidate.

He is one of the best players in the nation.
This is a good team, and worrying if DJ is up to the task is kinda funny.

I am not allowed to post a poll as to fans who believe that, one of yall put that up for me --

Tigers have a great QB and backups at the position.
This is going to be another year of the Tiger.

(I need to bookmark this so I can bump it up in October).

be looking at DJ’s mobility Saturday. I am very excited to see how he has progressed with his throwing mechanics too, but the big thing is can he operate more effectively in the RPO. I say we see improvement, but will temper knowing we’ve got a long summer to make him greased lightening.

Amazing how fans can perceive things that have yet to unfold or that they could possibly know the future. You could be making a joke, I don’t know. My opinion is just the opposite of yours. Unless in 3 months and some change he has learned how to read a defense, throw the ball with any accuracy, be mobile, the RPO like SFB said, be a vocal presence, or any type of positive presence, and not commit crippling turnovers, throw a pass less than 100mph with any touch, oh yea and put a muzzle on that pimp father he has, he ain’t winning a Heisman. Or the starting job past mid to late September.

Excellent post.
Do folks want to be a coot like you or have positive vibes for our Tigers?

lets have your parents go through a nasty divorce ruining your summer and causing you to lose focus on football and dieting then you gain 30 pounds. Next lets break the tip of your pointer finger on your throwing hand. Then lets sprain your knee on your front leg in your throwing motion. After that last take 6 of you scholarship wide outs and 3 of 5 linemen to ruin any amount of continuity....

How accurate would your passes be and how mobile in the pocket would you be?

Who holds the record for biggest comeback in DV history?

Apr 8, 2022, 10:14 AM [ in reply to Re: DJU will not struggle ]

Who holds the record for most passing yards in South Bend history?

In 2 starts and mop up duty in 2020, who completed 67% of his passes for nearly 1,000 yards, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs?

DJ has proven potential. The only thing that needs to "change" is DJ getting back to his potential.

You're scared. As a coot, you should be scared.

I like the way you think, Tug. Even the Chinese calendar says it’s the year of the Tiger and their year runs until early February so it covers the whole season including the playoffs and championship game. Coincidence??

I have to respectfully disagree with you. I hope he comes out in the first game with his hair on fire and we don't care about Klubnik the rest of the season, but DJ has a lot to prove and has a lot of areas to improve. The only reason he was playing is because Clemson had no other QB to replace him. I don't know how many games you attended, but if you saw the QB play in person, you would know that DJ throws the ball to the same place a lot, doesn't look for open WR's and I don't know how many inside pitches you have seen for a Pick 6, but I have seen two, and DJ pitched both of them.
The 3 loses that Clemson had, are a direct result of mistakes by DJ. How much did he improve over the season? How much can he improve since the bowl game? I'm sure he will start the season. Would one of the best players in the country be worried about losing his job?

Your absolutely right. The guy came into last year without a worry. He was out of shape and unfocused? Could it have been all the NIL money? Look at his old man’s Twitter and you can see what the mindset may have been. Now after crapping the bed for a whole season and ruining Clemson’s season single handedly, NOW he is serious? I think he and his Pimp father are a cancer to the program. Bring on the Cade era. Bring back the titles!

i wonder if his parents going through a nasty divorce has anything with him having a lack of focus? Being 19 years old and going through that isn't easy

But happy for competition.

Hope You Are "Accurate" Here!

Apr 7, 2022, 9:42 PM

I hope your prognostication skill is top-notch!

Right now, we just need some healthy WRs! EJ Williams and Randall are who I have in mind the most! I think with the offense not being so; "structured" and perhaps a bit more room for ad-lib under Coach Streater we can see much better QB play!
I still wish we had an Artavis Scott, Hunter Renfrow, Amari Roger, Adam Humphries in the slot as well as a consistent TE with a nasty streak for blocking and soft hands for catching passes!

I.E. a shifty WR that can get open relatively quick is a QB-friendly option. As well as a big body TE that can basically "post up" on a smaller-ish LB or Safety! If the QB is patient and looking to just move the chains and not "big plays" every play, An offense is capable of matriculating the football down the field.

I wish I shared your optimism, Tug. I hope you are right.

Apr 7, 2022, 9:53 PM

We all hope you are right. I guess I'll just need to see that vast improvement first. I need to see him go thru the progressions quickly, find open receivers, and make good decisions. We'll see.

I love those positive vibes.
I’m hoping DJ shows that last year was a bad anomaly, and has a heisman type year that results in him going pro (and perhaps leads to his brother committing to the Tigers).
Meanwhile, Klubnik gets meaningful snaps and leads our team in ‘23 & ‘24.

Hey, a guy can hope.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We're know more after Saturday afternoon, for sure!

Apr 7, 2022, 10:42 PM

Earlier poster made some honest & factual observations about his 2021 performance and I'll say DJ was instrumental about 50% of the time we lost those 3 games..2 being very winnable in looking back, if not all 3 considering the pick 6 vs UGa was 50% his fault & 50% Ross's but D did their job.

Good Luck DJ!

I hear you Tug. I am pulling for the better QB to demonstrate his skill sets so the Tigers go into the season with the QB who gives the Tigers the best chance to win them all.

I recall Dabo and Streeter saying it's an open competition.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I really hope DJ has a great season

Apr 7, 2022, 11:33 PM

I am pulling for him. He had a tough year last year. I am not overly optimistic about him based on what I saw last year. I will have to see it to believe he’s a lot better this year. I’m looking forward to football season and hope he has really improved. I want to see him redeem himself this season.

I think we have the talent to be elite and in the running for a NC but this is going to be the biggest rebuild the Tigers have gone through since Dabo’s early years . The good thing is we have way more talent than those teams .
It’s going to be a fun season with a lot of different looks.
