Tajh was an excellent WB who was a dangerous runner.
More importantly, DJ was playing his first game as “the guy” and it was against a top 5 team. Let’s give the guy some grace. He’s young and he will get better.

I think this whole line of though understates the backup QB situation. If the staff wasn’t worried about a DJ injury would be devastating, we would have had 5 designed QB option runs in the game plan. To me, the game was screaming for those plays. Any semblance of a run game and the offense gets legs. JMHO.

I agree his OL was the primary issue but to say he made things work and created opportunities for his team to win would be wrong.
He is 1-2 as a QB. His losses both came to top 5 teams. One game he was excellent and one was not. Please tell me how consistent he is as a big game QB.

Yeah Tajh was just HORRIBLE for Clemson

How quickly we forget. Yes, the pick 6 was butt ugly and reminiscent of a poor decision TB made at a pivotal moment, but to consider that his defining moment and make a general statement like that is disingenuous.

And DJ and his OL will figure it out. The Clemson football team is always one that starts a little slow....but as the year goes on, you see the improvement. GA for the first game of the season was going to be a challenge no matter what.

Absurd analysis… DJ will learn to get ride of ball quicker. Fact is TB was one of our greats qbs no doubt who struggled in the occasional big games when getting massive pressure.
More importantly offensive line got pushed around all night. We will be fine..

TB would have won last night.

If for no other reason than his propensity to tuck the ball and run, sometimes too early.
DJ scrambles more effectively last night, we win, despite a miserable offensive game plan.

The dude was playing his first game as the full time starter… and the first game of the year, against a top 3 possible number one defense. And he had zero help from the play calling.
I’m all for being blunt about when a player plays terrible. Cole stoudt bless your heart. But let’s give DJU some time now, come on. Honestly his biggest sins were holding the ball too long/taking sacks and not running when he had chances to pick up yards.
But for all we know he was ordered to protect himself and not run. And the deep outside routes took too long to develop so he had pressure in his face

Also, TB was a heck of a college QB. He struggled against South Carolina/Clowney, not all big games.
