Federal personal income tax should be done away with and replaced with a federal consumption tax (sales tax).

Exactly right. It also makes common sense so government would never go for it. I actually had a long meeting with my accountant. After an hour I just looked at him and asked “how in the world does government seriously expect us to know all these rules?” It’s so complicated that filing taxes will make a cheater out of an honest man simply by the complexity of it all.
