learn to read defenses over the summer? Is he suddenly not holding the ball too long? Is he suddenly throwing the receiver open instead of waiting and letting the defender catch up? Just saying

Well he suddenly acquired those traits so why would you believe he would not suddenly get rid of them?

Yes, he has also learned not to stare down his primary receiver. Ok, we get it, last year was ugly. Let's see what happens game 1 before running out there with the torches and pitchforks juat yet.

He must have been severely injured in 2021. No other explanation.

Last year, the supporting offensive teammates did little to support QB, who had big shoes to fill! Constant changes to Offensive Line due to constant injuries & inconsistent performance, as well as limited experience. Large number of dropped passes, constant injuries, and missing experience by WR's. Little emphasis on using TE's to help lack of consistency by WR's. Running backs performed well, but had very little experience. I was also very disappointed in play calling by the Offensive Coaches! I expect major improvements across the entire offense this year, but especially by QBs 1 & 2!

Listen I get it. The supporting cast wasn’t great. And no matter who played QB we would still have had close games. But I have gone back and watched a lot of the games and even when WR were open DJ was just missing. He was skipping rocks, throwing over their heads, throwing behind them, and sometimes even when on target he was throwing heaters when he just needed some touch.
IMHO he was all in his head last season and couldn’t shake it. Time will tell if he’s overcome it.

I do think a lot of the issues were in his head last year. The biggest question is can he put that all behind him? He obviously has all the physical tools in the world. I think the mental aspect of the game is what made Watson so special. He'd make some mistakes and even turn the ball over at times, but he'd come right back out as if none of it ever happened. Then when the game was on the line he'd be nearly perfect. Some guys have a lot more issues in shaking off past mistakes.

Standing in the backfield for 5 or 6 seconds because you can't pick out a second or third open pass catcher or remember where Davis Allen is on the field was not the o lines fault! When he had plenty of time he still made bad choices...again, we will never win a national championship with DJ at QB...he just does not have it or get it! He was 111th in the country last year and dead last in the conference in QB rating and he should have beaten those figures with a broken leg and diabetes! Dabo got bushwacked by the national press and someone from California and he's trying to make it work out...good luck!

I'm going to venture a guess that DJ having 5 or 6 seconds to throw wasn't the norm. He should share in a ton of the blame for how our offense played last year, but we literally had Will Swinney starting games by the end of the season due to all the receivers we lost. If he ever had 5 or 6 seconds to throw and couldn't complete a pass then there's a good chance the lack of options at receiver had a lot to do with that.
I'm not saying the injuries were the only thing wrong or that DJ would've been awesome with everyone healthy. I just don't like to pretend as if none of that stuff happened or that it had zero impact on anything.

Shows how smart you are Ralph. I've been an IPTAY member and season ticket holder since 1978 (probably when you were just a gleam in your daddy's eye). How the heck do you get negative 37 points anyway.

I don’t put much into Coach speak anymore, not after CDS told the world before last season the offensive line was great!
All coach speak until proven otherwise on the field this year!

and his freshman season. I think the question is more so if he can "re-learn" his mental game and footwork.
