Did coaches miss again with Cade

I am wondering more as this week goes by, did they miss on Cade like they did in DJ. He hasn’t looked very good when he has played sans the GT drive. And the mere fact that as bad as DJ has been lately, he is no threat to take the job. This is maybe the worst scenario coming into the season. We did have 2 generational players in a row. Who gets that lucky?

Because the starter has been historically awful for a 2nd year in a row, and he hasn’t beaten him out. It’s a legit question and concern. They have to get offense from somewhere tommorow. Louisville disrupts the QB and forces an unbelievable amount of turnovers. Our starter can’t move well and holds the ball too long, and has a tendency to commit backbreaking turnovers. On paper it looks like a bad matchup for DJ.

I don’t think they “missed” on DJ nor Cade. I think that they cannot develop a QB to save their life. DW4 and Tlaw came in game ready. Tlaw regressed during his time at Clemson. We have the wrong guys attempting to develop offensive players.

I so don't want this to be true. but I've begun to wonder. I think both DW and Tlaw came in hotter than they left. DJ would seem to have tools enough and I suspect Cade dies too.
I know it makes some if you feel good to knock on Cole Stoudt, but I got really hacked off when I realized (in the bowl game) that Atoudt was not lacking in skill but that Chad either didn't know how to adjust for Stoudts skill set, or refused to.
Are we seeing an inability to tailor our offense to DJs skill set?

10000%. DJ is not an RPO QB yet we force him to run that offense. If you want RPO then all chips should have been in on Cade from the start. DJ is a long ball QB/pro style. Streeter shouldn’t even hold water on the side lines.

They didn't miss with Cade. If Clemson OC actually had playbook with more that 10 plays. ND came put Cade in good drive but ended in interception. Next drive DJ back in for pick 6. Then DJ play rest of the way for the loss. DJ played back entire game against ND and didn't help defense couldn't stop the run. Once Cade came in the game he should have played to rest of the game. Cade has the talent to win games just need playbook toward his strengths. If Dabo was only going to give Cade one series versus ND after it Hunter Johnson should go it.

We were spoiled with generational QBs like Deshaun and Trevor who were ready to go when they stepped on campus. As we know, that’s really rare.
Cade has a lot of skill, but he’s still a freshman.

We recruit good QB talent… CK2 is really good..but the QB development is what is hurting us. Look at TL16 as a freshman and how he ended… same with DW4

We do not know the answer about Cade yet based on very limited playing time for him. I am pretty sure he will be just fine. DJ is another question. He has been given 2 years
as the starter and way to many opportunities in my opinion. DJ appears to be a great team player and young man, but coaches have definitely missed the mark on him as a top tier QB…..he just doesn’t have what it takes to fill that position!

The play calling when Cade is in game not toward his strength. Cade comes in OC calls 3 runs then he’s out. He throws better than DJ as HJ does but they call running plays

Imagine starting next year with a QB that's worse than DJ knowing that DJ is the worst QB we've had since maybe, IDK. I don't remember a worse QB than DJ during Dabo's time as HC.

Very interesting question. With DW4 and TL16 it was obvious real early that they were extremely better than Cole Stoudt and Kelly Bryant. Cade hasn't really shown that he is that much better than DJU at this point. I know it is early and I hope I am wrong but don't see it in Cade.

Of course they won't admit it, but deep down the pumpers are at least a little concerned about Cade.
Cade might have a great 2023. Maybe he'll win the Heisman and I sure hope he does. But, to date, he certainly has yet to show 5* skill. My sense is that Cade is a Clemson guy and will stick around, but there's no way he'll sit again in 2023. CDS needs to make it crystal clear to DJU that he has four more games as CU's QB1, or else Cade is in the portal for sure.
CDS is without a doubt the best thing to ever happen to CU football, but it seems to me that the CU coaches room is basically an echo chamber. That scenario is rarely healthy for any type of organization. I get the impression that most NFL teams would prefer their draft choices to have top calibre experienced college coaching. CU doesn't offer that and I wish CDS was willing to change that, but, I don't see it happening.
