I recall a Clemson player back in the '60s Ted Bunton, maybe, tackle his guy who had picked up an end zone fumble to prevent the opposing team from getting a safety...You got to realize this was 60 years ago...

Yes, he did. I think he was thinking, "The game is over. Don't get hit and fumble. Get down and we win." I've seen it happen when there was under a minute to play. I think the kid who tackled him just lost his mind, or at least how much time was left. It was a classic "mental error."
