Agreed.... It should not take 3 years to get back to where we were this year.
I expect us to be back to this piont in two and continue up from there.

If he can fix the starting pitching and errors, we should have good bats and better relief this year.
95 errors last season. Unacceptable at this level.

Clemson was 1 player away from losing seasons the last 2 years

Gossett last year, and Crownover this year.
Without them this thing would have imploded faster than Bobby Petrino getting out of Arkansas.
So there's some work to be done. I suggest fans - especially the Jack Cult - put their tudes in their back pockets for at least 3 years, and work on re-learning how to really get in behind this team again.
It'll take however long it takes if Lee is the right man for the job.
And before anyone starts slapping numbers on anything, please go back and read the trash that was being written about Dabo as late as right before the LSU game in 2012 - that was his year 4.5, and look at it now.
Turnarounds don't work on the same clock as your patience....

Yes and no ...

While Gossett and Crownover were certainly solid and dependable, we had several losses that could be blamed mostly on the defense, and a number of others where the bats simply let us down in crucial situations.
IMHO, errors and men left on base were as blatant a problem as our pitching depth.
All this said, I agree totally that it you take Gossett and Crownover away *and* we have the same defensive and hitting issues, we are in deep doo doo the last couple of years.
Hoping the new blood on the coaching side will help provide a cure for the ills we've suffered in all facets of the game, so we don't rely so heavily on our ace pitcher(s) to win games.

I think the point was that the "team" as a whole

was so badly inconsistent in all other areas,
that it took two absolutely Herculean pitching performances from those two guys just to keep the ship from totally sinking.
Surely there was no great coaching strokes of genius evident, nor "improvements" over the year from other players that would have saved those seasons otherwise.
Okey and Rohlmann put up improved batting numbers, year to year, but no one else seemed to step up over time.
Anyone who thinks this team is "just a player or two away" is out of their minds.
Simply put, Lee's not stepping into a great situation, regardless the JackCult protestations otherwise.

Supposedly Jack was doing a great job. There should be nothing to build back up.
