Depression and corona

Apr 29, 2020, 7:17 PM

I would first like to say I’m someone that has battled with a sense of depression my whole adult life.

With that being said something people don’t talk about is how low people are going to kill the selves than old people that die from this thing

First of all I hope you are doing ok right now. Please take care of yourself. I lost a friend to Covid so the virus is very real to me. I also know that what you are saying is very true. Here in Georgia, our Governor actually mentioned the rising number of trauma admits as a reason to reopen parts of the state. We have to find a balance between lockdown and living. Covid is not going anywhere anytime soon. Again take care of yourself.

Be safe. Stay healthy - physically and emotionally.

You're definitely not alone. I've spoken to many, including my own family, that are struggling right now.

I too have my moments, but have to resort to gratitude heavily. It is much worse for many others around the world. It's not normal times right now. We must fight through, and most times fight together with others. Reach out when needed. Family, friends, and even doctors.

Take care of yourself, and stay mentally focused on the positives where possible. We will get through this. We will be normal again. You got this!

It's going to be ok. The sun will rise in the morning and shine upon your face.

I have been getting antsy too lately. Get outside for some air and exercise if you can. Stay safe!!!

Almost everyone I know is having a mental struggle coping with this crisis, in some degree. Maybe not every day, but we are all having our moments. So I definitely feel for you and I hope there's a way you can find someone to talk to and get help from if you need it. I fear there's going to be a huge spike in mental illness related injuries, arrests, and suicides before this is all over. :(

Yep. My brother struggles with depression. My family has lots of history with depression from both sides of the family. We had a bit of a crisis last week over this very issue. Seem to have caught it in time to avoid a complete disaster. Depression is a terrible affliction, it destroys your life one tiny moment at a time, for decades.

I have a close friend suffering from failing physical health, severe-and-drastically-worsening depression and anxiety, and a psychologically abusive control-freak husband all at once...on top of that she's caring for their 4 kids basically by herself. She can hardly get a quiet moment to herself even in normal times, but these days she's practically confined to her house both because she's immuno-compromised and because her husband flips out if she can't justify her trips out to his satisfaction. I am extremely worried for her.

And I'm afraid there are many more like her. This is why I'm so adamant that we must begin getting back to work. I hope you are able to offer your friend emotional support if nothing else.

Exercise, no matter how minimal, is a way to fight depression a little. Sunshine helps too IMO. I'm not a specialist in depression, but I see it often. Those 2 things help me. I won't bother to explain how exercise and endorphins work to make you better because I can't. Maybe Google it.

Good luck and know that the weirdos on t-net (me included) are always worse than you. :)
Oops - did I say that aloud?

Hang in there 07. I have looked at this pandemic as an opportunity to do a bunch of things that I have put off and have managed to stay pretty busy. Sometimes the hardest part is just to get going and starting them. I also exercise a lot, if not by working, but by walking or riding my bike. Stay busy ...... even when you don't feel like it. Best of luck and hopefully we will be back talking about football and looking forward to the season before long.

I'm very concerned about the increased depression due to this virus and the shut down. We actually went out to eat lunch yesterday at a restaurant that placed a few tables outside and you would be amazed how uplifting that was. Hang tough!
