Defense alignment

May 5, 2021, 6:53 PM

Calling it now as a non coach fanatic. 5-2-4 defense. Tight man to man and rush 5 lineman all the time. Simpson taking care of tight end and skalski cleaning up any scrambles. I am excited for football and want to see opposing quarterbacks crushed again and again. Go Tigers

The defensive front is going to be nasty. Spot the ball. Go Tigers!

I like the idea... so much defensive line talent is almost illegal. Tyler Davis, Bryan Breese, Myles Murphy, Justin Foster, Xavier Thomas, and that’s just the top tier. Can we play 6-2-3 lol

Seriously though, Venables is big on 4 man front of talent is there. And in 2021 it will be great.

Clemson will play primarily 4-3-4. The 4 man front needs to be extremely disruptive and that secondary can feast. This Dline COULD, COULD be all time great.

Do we have 2 edge rushers? Would love to have another Simmons type hybrid but don't think we have anyone who can play that 5th role

A long time ago, the variation of this formation, during the times of running the ball, was called a 6-3-2 defense. Maryland ran this defense a lot back then. Of course those were the times of the I and T formations. Wish bone was a variation of the T formation. The days of head slaps, double teams, and roll blocking. Lord help me, I was young and stupid back then.
