Not hard to figure out why we start fast on defense and falter late. We have no functional depth ! Refusal to go to the portal and recruiting a disaster for last several years now leaves us gassed by the 4th quarter each week . We got pressure early and forced turnovers , then late we sit back the entire 2nd half rushing only 3 gassed lineman and never attempt to blitz ? Sat back and let SMU just pick us apart ? Goodwin can’t recruit or coach and Dabo just watches with no idea what to do ? Glad we won but this depth issue and lack of talent will be worse next year with the class we just signed .

The depth might be an issue but when our offense can't stay consistently on the field that also becomes a problem.

So scheme has nothing to do with it, huh? That 3-man front has killed us in a couple of games this year...and almost killed us last night if not for heroics by Randall and Heuser.

Our offense produces 40 second drives with 29 yard punts

That's why the defense falters. They get worn out.

Offense had one complete drive last night and we scored a lot of points directly because of the defense and their play in the first quarter.
