Deepest Position Group on 22 Tigers Ranked!

Aug 10, 2022, 11:21 PM

1. Defensive Tackles. Absolutely loaded position group! Maybe the deepest we have ever been in terms of potential at DT.
2. Running Back. Are you kidding me? Mafah, Shipley and Pace could be feature backs somewhere. By Goodness!
3. Linebacker. I could have placed them 2nd easily TBH. But, "gaw-le" you got Bentley(head knocker), Simpson(ideal range/speed/size), Trotter(speed and a bunch of nasty), Macguire(another speedy LB who likes to get physical), Carter(versatile enough to play safety - enough said about his speed/size), TJ Dudley(going to be a beast), Sergio Allen(mystery man who was a 4-star). My goodness!
4. Quarterback. 3 5-star QB's on the roster with all the potential one can ask for. I'll be honest; the few snaps of saw of Hunter Helms - I liked too. It was mop up duty; but you can tell "he gets it". Billy Wiles - 6'3 200 lbs. I like our options down the bench at QB.
5. Cornerback. Wiggins and Jones ( is who I would put my money on as starters ). Jaedyn Lukus and Malcolm Greene behind them. Toriano Pride could easily steal a spot on any of the above; I think he's going to be that good. I think Andrew Mukuba is going to take some reps at CB as well which can't be a bad thing. Sounds like they have a lot of confidence in someone else to play safety. Really good players in this group.

Agree, disagree about the order? Did I omit any groups you think should be top 5? I only did top 5.

Honorable mention: OL - A bunch of the Tigers OL got pressed into action last year probably before they were ready. I think with the new coach and the "pink elephant in the room" about OL performance; the Tigers are set for a great year on the OL. Sometimes learning under fire forges a stronger version of "yourself"! Then the offseason happened and mental reps from game action helped the player slow things down. I think we'll be more than fine here.

Well deserved props to the Defense individually & collectively. Looking forward to seeing this 2022 Defense mesh and stay healthy! And all onboard with RB's.

As for Offense, QB-OL-WR dynamic needs to be earned on the field. Summer is the talking season. And the 2021 Offense never walked the 2021 Summer talk. Looking forward to these young men bringing it in 2022!

I want the OL to blow them all away.

I think I'm most excited about the linebacker group. This is going to be the most athletic group we've ever seen. I almost think it doesn't matter so much who starts are Mike with Simpson and Carter on the field together.

I certainly hope we have great OL play this year. It can be the difference in a mediocre team vs a great team.

100% agree!

If the OL can stay healthy we have a chance to be a really good team. Play action passes are devastating to a defense; especially if they have to drop safety in the box to stop the run game.

OL sounds like it may have gone from a position of weakness to a position of strength. The guys who were pressed into action had to learn under fire LY. That experience plus another year in the weight room should prove to be invaluable.

Can't wait to see what they do. Excited about Coach Austin's influence as well.

I agree with everything but let’s stop Claiming HJ to still be a 5*. That’s what his rating was out of high school but it’s evident that was miss. But is he a decent 3rd stringer? Sure.

That's fair!

Good insurance policy; I think with his years as a college QB.

Missed Fred Davis on your corner list. Former 5 star, have been hearing great things about him. Definitely in the top 3 for that group.

Tight end room could be honorable mention with Allen, Briningstool and Ennis. Everything else looks spot on. Go Tigers!
