After we won our second one they started counting one from 1941 or ‘42 that they didn’t count before (because it’s pedigree is dubious)
I was around in 1980-81 and even met Hershel once on a campus visit. At the time they counted 1980 as their first but 35+ yrs later got natty envy.

They "eek" out a win against Dabo's worst team in a decade and they think they're world-beaters. Wins 50+ years ago...that's all they have to hang their hats on.

And they have been flexing those hard. My father in law is a big UGA fan & he bought coasters that say 3 x national champs & I was super confused at first until I saw the 1942 championship on there which is absolutely hilarious. Flexing a 1942 championship to try to compare it to a CFP championship is a total joke & that guy proves how much in georgias head Clemson is. They know just like the rest of us if Metchie & Williams played in the title game they might have lost by 35+ instead, they get handed a win by default

Burley is going to be a good player, but UGA likely gets Malik Bryant in this class. He’s the most explosive d-lineman in this class
We needed Burley but honestly UGA didn’t. This one was down to Tennessee and Clemson

Just reality. Burley is going to be like an Austin Bryant type. Strong, fundamental, disciplined in assignment. But he’s not a fast, twitchy guy that’s going to blow up a bunch of plays. Really good get for Clemson, but not a do or die for UGA

Not as a charity, they definitely would have took Burley if he wanted to go there. But he’s never been a guy that UGA counted as thinking they were going to have in this class
