I am as big a fan as any but if you really think their offense is that bad and our defense is that great now, based on the LSU game I want some of what you have....I fear their ability to run and eat the clock but I guess we can wait and see.

a few. I like our O better, though. It will come down to which defense can get a critical stop when necessary and turnovers. I like our chances to win by 7 if the TOs are equal. Squeaker if we turn in over -1. Possible loss if we turn it over -2. If we're plus in TOs, it could be a very solid double-digit victory. I do have confidence in our D to outplay theirs.

That's where our defense is going to have to be big this year.
I don't believe we'll ever have the huge "SEC" style defense with the fast-paced offense that we've got. What we need to have is an above average defense with a good ground game...but what we need most is to get turnovers. We don't need to have the dominant defenses that LSU or Alabama has. Their game is to wear you out with a ground-n-pound and eventually beat you into submission.
Our strategy should be to prevent extended drives on the ground and force turnovers when teams are in a position where they need to play catch-up (which, with our offense, is commonplace).
However I do agree with the notion that some people are getting ahead of themselves in regards to the status of our defense. Georgia's offense is very good. We haven't ever faced a ground game like Marshall/Gurley, and we will not have faced a QB as good as Murray.
I don't see us stopping their run game. If we're going to win this game, we're going to have to outscore them.

Heres how I view the matchup; just like last years Clemson vs Fla St.
Last year Fla St had the better D. Both teams had exceptional O but the win and upperhand went to the crimiNoles.
What I'm saying is Clemson to win similar to the 49-37 game.

UGAs offense. This game comes down to UGAs young defense. If they can stop Boyd and co. They win, if not, you win. If i had to pick today i wouldnpick Clemson by a game winning field goal. Your kicker is the x factor in this game.

this is college football. Someone will not play to their fullest potential, and will lose.
If I were a UGA fan, the thing that would concern me most is the bulldogs' recent history of slow starts. They didn't exactly blow the doors off Buffalo last year, Boise State the year before, or OK State in '09.
Maybe UGA will fare better this year. Maybe Clemson will look like we did against Bama in '08.
Or, maybe we will blow the doors off Death Valley and give the SEC bandwagon something else to cry about. And oh, how we will love to watch you cry...

Our D played one great game last year and that was against a not so good Lsu offense. I am not sure why everyone thinks we can shut down Ugay. I think this will be a shoot out and I think we win it in a close one. If our defense has improved enough to stop Ugay then we win going away. If ga. controls the clock then we are in trouble because we need to score 30 to win.

in all but three games last year, I think we have a shot.
This CU defense will be better. All we will need are a few stops or turnovers. I see that happening simply due to the kicking situation over there at UGA.

yes but with different personel. you can only speculate how the newbies will perform. they certainly won't be clicking at 100% in the season's first game. all these 40+ point predictions are hilarious.

defense though, yeah, there are some new guys...but if you didn't realize...Clemson's Dline (which is mostly coming back) held back a pre-game vaunted running offense of LSU to 99 yards showing improvement from last year's beginning. Add to that some shifting in personnel to better spots that are more natural to them (Blanks...ahem), addition of a defensive guy that followed Venables from OK that was held out last year that KNOWS his system...the only question is in the backfield (which if you look at spring practice has been stated to be better so far, already causing a few picks on Taj himself, and that's not counting what Alexander may do in the next few weeks).
Again, I also wouldn't think that there couldn't be a possibility that Clemson doesn't come in with a better defense that you assume from past...people said the same about Clemson's O the year Morris was hired...until...

Well with all due respect, some guys over at the UGA board are predicting UGA to drop 60-70 on us. At least the 40 point claims are a bit more realistic.
