Daughters

Jul 16, 2022, 10:07 AM

Do you have any?
I have none, wish I had several.
Ran across this old video of a Pop who is very proud of his kid.

This happy video will get you in a good mood for the weekend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1anU3FvfFQA

Many many folks have recorded this tune, none better than this.
Jamison Belushi - daughter of Jim Belushi

Yes, I have a daughter and very proud of her. When daughters are young, they are special and totally different. She helped me clean fish when she was 6 yo and gut a deer when she was 14. Like most daughters, for men, there are stressful teenage years but nothing a visible shotgun didn't take care of. ?? Not only has she and the son-in-law given me 2 fine grandsons, she was also front line during COVID as a respiratory therapist and lived it all from getting COVID, to seeing recovery and seeing the worst case. Tough as nails!

And I do...you totally grasp the LOOK the fathers gave you when you picked them up for a date!

Dad-daughter is probably the most one-sided relationship in life! In the best way possible!

There’s an old saying

Jul 16, 2022, 12:04 PM

A son is a son until he takes him a wife.
A daughter is a daughter for the rest of your life.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I guess that is why there is another old saying "I'm not

guessing my rep with the ladies preceded me in hs and college - so the big man gave me 3 girls as punishment.

my job is to keep them away from boys that were like me. always keeping my head on a swivel.
it’s f’n exhausting.

luckily, i have the uncanny ability to spot an “eddie haskell” from a mile away. wonder why?

Yes I have one of each. Both teenagers. With a son you have to watch him. With a daughter you have to watch everybody else’s sons. I have a sizable collection of firearms and enjoy showing them off to her suitors as well expressing how much she means to me.

I’m old also. My two daughters are the greatest gift of my life along with their mom. They are 49 and 47. The oldest is a Clemson grad and her sister graduated from Lander. We are very close. Now it’s grandkids. 4 girls and 2 boys. Each has a son and 2 daughters. There isn’t enough space here to chronicle the joy they have brought. One advantage of today is the opportunity for the girls to participate in sports the same as boys. For almost 50 years we have been attending athletic events and enjoyed every second. In fairness my 14 year old and youngest granddaughter is a dancer and she may be stronger and more flexible than all of them.
I have been fortunate to spend a lot of time with each one and I wouldn’t change anything.
My youngest daughter and I worked side by side for 4 years . Everyone should be so lucky.

Re: Daughters

Jul 16, 2022, 6:48 PM

My first was a daughter and she could not have turned out better. We paid for four years of college at another ACC school (still she is a Clemson sports fan) and she maxed out on student loans for her two years in graduate school and we still had to throw in 14K per year, but that was OK. She was in a program that had a 93% placement rate and had a job offer after her first year in grad school. Since grad school she has served three tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. She paid off her entire student loan in less than three years. Although she can't tell us what she does, I know she was saving the lives of our servicemen in all of her deployments. She is not in the military.

She is a spitfire. I’m sure having two older brothers is a big reason for that.

I have one! 14. Don’t know what I would do without her. Girls are just different. When they are small, they just feel different than boys. Lighter, softer. She wants 8 hugs a day, and I am always willing to oblige. I carried her to the door every day for kindergarten and 1st grade until the teacher told me to let her walk, ha. Even though she’s probably more of a Mama’s girl, I like to think we have a special bond. Hope she does.
