Daniel High School must have one hell of a program

We have 13 guys on the roster from Daniel High School, most look more like a bunch of members from the KA fraternity. Add Herbstreet's son and a couple of others and you wonder what is going on?
I'm guessing the new rule of recruiting is friends and family deals. Be a family member of Dabo or Venables and you get walk-on status. Then be a friend of theirs and you get a scholly or walk-on status.
Maybe it's ok to throw away the walk-on status but when you have to play them in critical situations, that becomes a problem.

You make a good point but Hunter had talent. I have nothing but respect for Walk-on's but if we are showing favoritism to the Swinneys, Venables, and friends, aren't we giving up opportunities to potentially find the next Hunter?

Everybody needs to stop using the Hunter Renfrow example. Hunter Renfrow’s situation was so incredibly unique. You could write a movie about it. He could very well be the best walk on football player in the history of college football. So give up using Hunter Renfrow as an example, that just doesn’t carry weight. Clemson is wasting scholarships on friends and family and Daniel high school kids.

DID THE WORK - instead of just cackling off with diarrhea of the mouth - and THREE of the kids are on scholly - Venebles, Swinney (who the guy pointed out has been a flawless holder - pretty critical), and someone else.

I know we make very few offers, but if you are not going the portal route you may need to put more offers out there and not rely on friends and family to fill in the gaps.

Good point but still not acceptable. We are Clemson and a brand that should not only get the best recruits, the best coaches, and the best walk-ons. Period

Daniel has nothing to do with this. Now you're just fishing for more issues than the main point of the problem. I'm pretty certain there's not a limit on walk-ons. They makeup and help with the practice team. They have other coaches that takes care of the practice teams.

The point is that Dabo has been giving Friends and Family deals out to a bunch of DHS guys that are smaller than the Erskine football team. How does that help our 4 and 5-star talent? Do you think it might bring them down because they can't push them?

Why are you prejudiced against local kids walking on at the school they've followed their whole lives? A walk on is just that. No scholarship, no financial assistance from the university. No cost at all

You never had the talent of those DHS players...they have skills and many are highly rated statewide and Dabo and Venables had seen them play often...I have never seen us have any shortage of skilled players...we do however have a shortage of skilled `posters`!

My guess is Nuk? Not quite sure but I do know he was as good if not better in basketball as we was in football in HS. Of course, he has turned out to be the best WR from Clemson that is in the NFL.

I get your post was supposed to be a knock on the friends and family plan Dabo uses to fill out the roster.
The reality is the Daniel program is very interesting. They have had very good teams the last couple of years but they a few years ago when they had NFL Players on their roster they did not do as well. Daniel had to one of the top schools in terms of NFL players from the school for a school their size.

You are correct, DHS has had some incredible athletes come out of that school, unfortunately, I don't think the last name is Swinney or Venables.....or whoever they dragged in here. Clemson football is one that gets the best scholarship players, why wouldn't we get the best walk-ons?
