Dabo was the one who said this was his most talented team

Oct 15, 2021, 1:34 PM

I knew we were in deep doodoo when our beloved coach told the world preseason that this would be his most talented team yet. Ugh Oh! Anyone who watched the Spring Scrimmage could see that was a lie, Especially on the offensive side of the ball. After the Spring Scrimmage, I told a friend that the play calling for the scrimmage was so vanilla and bland that is was no wonder there were few points scored. DJ's team lost if I remember correctly. There were no passes to the middle of the field, no deep throws, just the monotonous pounding into the middle of the line over and over ad nauseum. I told my buddy right then that if this is what we see in the Fall, it is gonna get ugly. Then, WAHLA!!! That is exactly what we got in the Fall. RPO's up the middle, quick screens to the WR's, etc.,etc.,etc......which all adds up to statistically one of the WORST offenses in all of college football. We could see it coming while at the same time hoping that it would not happen. Sadly, It did!!

I also thought the play calling was intentionally vanilla in the spring game because the passing game was atrocious. Little did I know that it was actually the real offense.

I thought the coaches were holding back some in the spring game.

It turns out they weren’t. Uggghhh

The most talented team does not always mean the most

experienced team, which is the problem this season on offense. Our defense is playing very well, but the OL, QB, RBs, and the young WR's need some positive plays to give them more confidence in their abilities.

Stop it...There is no way in HeII this is even remotely

Oct 15, 2021, 2:02 PM

close to being his most talented team...There is not a single position group better than the 2018 team...not one single unit

Tight end is better now. I don't even remember Milan Richard. Davis, Braden, Jaelyn, and Sage are a better unit than Milan, J.C. Chalk, and Cannon Smith. We just don't design plays for them to be able to do that they can do because Elliott is an idiot. Also, maybe linebacker? Simmons changed a ton from 2018 to 2019. Spector, Skalski, and Simpson are a good linebacker unit. They could be better than 2018 Simmons, Lamar, and Joseph, though it's close. The depth is probably better for sure.

But other than that, 2018 is probably the best squad Clemson will field in my lifetime, and I'm still relatively young.

I think its leadership. This offense has no one to keep them

accountable and honest.

If someone runs the wrong route or is lazy and doesn't fend off an interception attempt, no one is there to chew them out other than maybe a coach. Too many passive personalities..at least from what i see on tv and interviews. Thats the most glaring thing i see.

When you have a team that is gaining intensity from other teammates it creates energy and the will to do well. When everyone acts like its no big deal then you'll get a team that thinks its no big deal. Guys like Boulware, Christian Wilkins, Trevor and Deshaun fed the intensity to win either by their example or their words on the field. If you gonna play soft do you think a Christian Wilkins ain't gonna ride you in practice until it pissses you off and you try to show him up to shut him up??

If Ross runs another bad route i wanna see DJ give him a look and correct him. B/c for all we know its the receivers being in the wrong spot. Dabo has said it multiple times that guys aren't running the right routes. But the problem will persist (if this indeed the problem) if DJ doesn't sack up and start demanding everyone start getting their crap together. And i've heard of no team meetings this week so i assume we'll be watching the same thing tonight.. sure hope not.

We play more guys...

than any other team in the country per game over the past several years. I understand this is done to prepare the younger players for larger roles in the future. Thus, they're getting experience. Well, here we are in the middle of the 2021 season and the offense looks like they've never seen the field. Yet some true freshmen have already assumed starting roles.

To put it blunt, this offense looks like they haven't worked together much at all during the offseason.

That defense though...

They can have all the talent in world, but if they don't mesh, they might as well be a pee wee football team.

Again, our coaches need a boot up their butt, though it would also be a head shot .. “coach” and develop these players. Evolve, be creative on offense and after the season, dump the former player/coaches and TE. If not, this is our new norm.
