Plyler's Blog: NC State Review

NC State Review

NC State Review
Saturday felt a lot like a game we saw earlier in Death Valley this year, only this time it was North Carolina State and not South Carolina State on the visiting sideline.

Clemson dominated the Wolfpack in every facet of the game Saturday. The defense put up perhaps its

We will destroy this supposed number one rated Defense of the Little Birds. They are not physical enough to play with us on either side of the ball. When we run the ball more N-S as we did against NCSU and throw slants over the middle we are tough to beat. When we finally get short passes over the middle to the tight ends after wideouts have taken secondary deep, school will be out for any DC trying to stop us. Yes Santa, Mr. Watson is the real deal at picking up open receivers. Tigers--48-Little Cards 10. I usually give 10 for just showing up.

Very thorough whipping put on the wolfies in every phase of the game. I loved watching it, and I especially liked the performance of the OL. The best they have done in years, IMO.

while I was glad to see CU come out prepared, NCState didn't look like they had a lot of fight in them (really with they had knocked off FLState!). The OL didn't create many holes (the best runs were when the runners had to bounce to the outside to find space).

The USC game will be tough. They are big & strong and when they get up for a game, which they will be against CU, they are tough. Our OL will need to really step up against USC and the D will need to stop the 'activity' in the middle - we seem to get out of position and let too many runs/short passes get extra yardage. USC has lots of talent (Spurrier can recruit). Will be very interesting to see how they do at Auburn.

Our offense did not score a TD in the second half, which is a concern for me....the NCSU broadcasters said that they made half time adjustments and shut our offense down....don't know if that is true or not, but if it is I am sort of worried about playing better teams. I would have felt better if our only TD in the second half would have been made by the offense. I don't think USuC will have any wind in their sails when they show up this year, and Ball Sack will get crucified in the paper because of the beating the cluckers are gonna take.

They put on the brakes in the second half. We ran the ball more, and we played a huge amount of back ups. That SCar game is going to be a bang bang bang all night. Spurrier has ran his mouth TOO long and the way our offense is playing and the defense is playing I feel 60 burger warming up. We owe it to them.

... and DJ Howard averaged 6 yards per carry taking over for Gallman and Choice. These are just two obvious examples among many, many personnel changes made after halftime.

We may not have scored on offense in the second half, but the reason was definitely not adjustments by the NC State coaching staff.
