6’6” 250lb athletes are rare. Much less the best athlete on the baseball team. As I started his, he crushed a pitch to take a 2-0 lead on BC. I digress. Grice could make a heckuva tight end!

Oline, DEs, TEs, HBs, FBs.
That's why his Oline was relatively small, especially on the edges. He wanted them to be able to move in his spread.
Jumbo Athlete didn't mean 300+, it was length, wingspan, height with the frame to grow and maintain an ability to move.

Here Tommy comments on how small lines will be and the why.
They looked for these guys that referred to then as Jumbo athletes that could play numerous positions. It was his way to increase the pool of talent and not earmark or confine too many coming in. A lot had to do with development, where they were needed and how they filled out and maintained that athletic ability.

Aaron Judge and Derek Carr were at SDSU at the same time and Carr kept trying to get Judge to play football as a tight end.
I think he made the right decision by declining.
