DABO Naysayers

Oct 2, 2022, 10:39 AM

As others have posted this morning, "I feel sorry for Coach V", or Coach Elliott or Coach Scott. I like them all, loved them when they were at Clemson, however how many people have Posted on Tiger Net and other sites and even the ESPN talking heads have said things like, "Dabo is a good coach but he's a great coach because he's kept his coaches and coordinators." Take a look at how these former coaches are fairing, WITHOUT DABO! I think maybe all the gloom and doom talking heads probably had it backwards, Coach V, Coaches Elliot and Scott were Great Coordinators BECAUSE of Coach Swinney, you think?

It is year one for Coach V at Oklahoma.

It will take time for him to build his program the way he wants it. Coach Scott has a tough haul as USF. Not sure how good they are expected to be. Coach Elliott can turn the tide at UVA but recruiting will be the key for that program and making sure they have an identity.

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?
• Put up goal posts
What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?

agree totally, I was simply pointing out that a LOT of posters and talking heads have said exactly what I posted

Can you provide a few links as I have not seen this discussion. It is a valid question which should be reviewed in 3-4 years. Until then nothing more than a guess at best

Don't have any LINKS, but I don't save things like that. If you have been on this site long enough you have to have seen some, or not paying attention. As for the talking heads at ESPN, etc, they go for years.

Yep, it’s all about the system and culture around the program that dabo has built. Not taking anything away from the coaches who have left the program, but they were just part of a bigger system.

Yep. And the “anti - promote from within” voices are pretty quiet this morning too. Maybe these new coordinators are ok after all.

Yesterday was a tough day for the “Brent Venables was the only reason for Clemson’s success, not Dabo” crowd.

BV will do fine but needs time to get veteran players in his system. Jeff is soon to be out of a job and I have little faith in Tony. Maybe that Dabo guy knows what he’s doing after all.

There's no need to insult Brent, Tony and Jeff...

to certify Dabo and make people understand how great Dabo is and how much we respect him.

If they, Jeff, Tony and Brent have the good sense to have learned from Dabo while they were his supporting cast they should turn out fine when/if they find themselves in a place with the
advantages Dabo has here at Clemson. It may take them a while to find their places and we certainly shouldn't expect them to have some magic wand to instantly change anything. Dabo changed us from mediocre to outstanding but it took a while even here where we gave him opportunity accompanied with full support.

Wherever they land, they will make the best of it, imo.
