D1 Baseball scholarships

Mar 9, 2021, 9:14 PM

have decreased to 11.7 for a 28 man roster. This change has affected the level of play for all State supported schools that are running a clean program. Private schools are able to use private funds to supplement scholarships and build baseball dynasties.
This also affected Jack at the end of his career and has brought our baseball program to its knees.
Basketball can give 10 scholarships to a roster of 12-15 players while baseball gives 11.7 to 28 players.
And yes other programs are successful but you better pull back the curtain before saying how well they are doing.
Sound familiar Judge.

So in other words, reduction of scholarships effect the ability of teaching fundamental baseball ie, how to bunt, how to hit and run, base running, hitting the cut off man, pitching changes, how to adjust at the plate with 2 strikes and on and on and on, bottom line is this Monte has had 5 years to improve and nothing has changed. A mediocre coach, produces mediocre results.

Please pass this on to all the "Fire Monte" rabblerousers

out there. Any new coach at Clemson would also be under those exact same constraints. Now, I don't like that unlevel playing field any more than the next guy, but at this point in time, you would be just as successful whining about the fact that water is wet.

1 point of clarity.. private schools do have

Ways. But nothing illegal about it.

All students are treated the same and the school legally can cover tuition.

For instance .. the daughter of a buddy of mine got into Harvard. He told me the tuition to go to Harvard was not much higher than clemson.

They have a huge endowment so they charge tuition by income. You can literally go to Harvard for free if your income is low enough. If you are very rich your tuition will could be outrageous.

But that only has to do with the academic side , dorms/tuition/meal plans etc.

But.. you still have to have a coach that can get you there. Harvard doesn't have the best athletic programs for a reason.
