D-LINE returning?

Jan 2, 2018, 9:28 PM

I know it’s probably not likely but could you imagine if Ferrell, Bryant and Wilkins returned for their senior years? Don’t hold me to it but I have a feeling they may all come back after the outcome last night

pretty sure everyone in their position would go pro, why risk injury when you can make a million your first year? all three will go at least top 2 rounds. I would like for them to come back, but isn't likely

It depends on draft projections. I think Ferrell is 99% likely to go, Wilkens 99%. Bryant is not likely to get a first round grade. If it is second, 75% likely gone, drop that number to 50% if he got a 3rd round grade.

I have a feeling Bryant will stay . Probably see Bryant and (Jr.) - Lawrence stacking up QBs next year alongside XT , Huggins , Pinckney , Yeargin , Kelly ...possibly KJ Henry doesn't redshirt .
We'll have another outstanding DL regardless of those losses ...and they are significant to say the least .
Hope Bryant stays .

I believe he is a DE. If there is one position group I'm not concerned about its the D-Line.

The coaches we have at that position along with BV's scheme can turn any 3-star into a force, but they're working with 4 and 5 stars instead of 3's.

Register and Foster have been pretty solid as well.

returning...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No chance. They all have won a national title.

They are all coming back. I will be happy if 1 of them returns. Ferrell could hit the weights another year and he would be amazing next year. I bet he s gone, but would love to see him back. He is just coming into his own. The best is definitely yet to come for that guy.

Would look to Foster to surprise people this year. Has all the tools and now a year under his belt.

For some reason I wouldn't be surprised to see Christian Wilkins and 1 of the other 2 return more than likely Ferrell return and Bryant leave. But really if Christian comes back all bets are off because of the way BV rotates guys and with the new guys we have coming in. But think back to when CW was a freshman and there was so many questions with the DL on coming back or going pro and they all came back. He has said on numerous occasions that them coming back was the best thing for him because he was able to learn from the other guys above him, ease into the rotation, and play more full-out snaps rather than be expected to play every single snap. He just seems like that ambassador who would stay an extra year especially with as loaded as we'd be on both sides of the ball, and with as much as he talks about giving back to Clemson University, what more could you give then setting the precedent of being a 1st rounder and returning for your Senior Year to go on one last run for a Championship.

Same thing with Bryant/Ferrell. I thought both had dominant performances at times and other games where they didn't show up much at all. Personally I think another year would help both of them so they'd have 2 years of dominant performances and not just a "one year wonder player", so now you're not talking potential 1st rounder you'd be talking top 15 pick for all of them. Also given the fact that snap-wise they would be able to go full-out even more because of the depth we'd have, make more "highlight plays", all help their draft stock, and be the first entire DL ever, I believe, to all be drafted in the 1st round would be hard to pass up. Not to mention I don't believe that any of them aside from CW have their degree although I could be wrong about that.

I could just be wishful thinking and looking with orange lenses but of all of them I think CW is the only guaranteed 1st rounder of the 3 right now. And he's been the least vocal about leaving, Ferrell said that he was thinking about coming back before the SC game and wanted to see how the playoff run would impact his stock and in my mind he did nothing to really wow me. It may not happen but I don't think it's as unlikely as everyone thinks it is to have them return next year.

Don't think the entire D-line came back after Wilkins freshman year.

Based on what I saw Monday, I'd say CW and CF should go. They are first rounders. Bryant needs to stay. He was dominated by the right tackle all game and made a lot of mistakes. He could be a first rounder next year.

Wilkins is definitely gone. He has his degree, he’s a first rounder, and there is nothing left to prove here. Ferrell- the only reason to stay is to finish his degree and get bigger and stronger. He’s probably gone. Bryant will probably stay. He could definitely use another year.
