Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I prefer when coaches sound a little uneasy and point out all the areas of improvement our defense needs to make to be "championship" material.

I'm missing Brent Venables already. He was always uneasy. Conn sounds a little bit like Kevin Steele in that each off-season we always heard how awesome they were gonna be.

I just don't see how anointing guys before the season even starts produces the desired results. I hope I'm wrong and Mickey's style doesn't backfire on us.

I guess you maybe missed the part where he said something to the point of not taking what he says as his word. He said that all the right parts are there with the potential to win a championship, but they need to put in the work, as if they're not ready to play for a championship today. But with the work, they are capable of playing championship FB....

So we should be Conn-fident? Should we be expecting a good win for such a venerable squad???

the defense will be very good this year. What would be good to see will be the offense not killing our defense with 3 and outs and inability to score. We will see.

CW42 was unquestioned leader of 2018 DL/Defense/Team

Who will be the motivational player leader of 2022 Defense and team? Bresee? KJ? TD13?

IMHO Cade Klubnik will be a big-time leader in the future, but Clemson will need defensive leadership in 2022.
