Personally I'd miss all the bowls.

If we continue to stick our heads in the sand about it...yes.
We should expand the CFP and then create a slightly larger NIT equivalent.
Stop pretending to care if a 6-6 teams gets another opportunity for practices.

The Rose Bowl has been the hang up. The Big10 and PAC 12 still support it, and they still want best PAC-Big matchup possible and demand a start on New Years Day at 1pm Pacific time.

How do you expand the playoffs and stay within 15 games per season max?
Bowls between two crappy 6-6 or 7-5 teams are doomed anyway based on the portal and opt outs.
Did anyone really miss not seeing Nancy St vs UCLA last night?

ESPN owns a good portion of the bowls anyway (below). Im sure they would be all to pleased to let them go away for a large play off format that they would most assuredly win the bid to televise.
Texas Bowl Gasparilla Bowl Bahamas Bowl Birmingham Bowl Celebration Bowl Boca Raton Bowl Potato Bowl Frisco Bowl New Mexico Bowl Hawai’i Bowl Las Vegas Bowl Armed Forces Bowl Camellia Bowl First Responder Bowl The Myrtle Beach Bowl

I used to like seeing matchups like NC State / UCLA

gave you a sense of what your conference was really like. But with playoffs, transfers, covid... games are not a measuring stick anymore.
I did want to see the NC State game anyway last night.

Our favorite teams aren't always going to the playoffs.
If the play offs are expanded, some teams, still will not have a chance to win.
I thought UCLA/NCState was a great matchup and wanted to see State kick some left coast tail.
The Dukes Mayo game Is pretty relevant to most ACC and SEC fans. I think unc beats the #### out of SC.

I don't think the Dukes Mayo bowl is relevant to many SEC/ACC fans at all. Nobody cares about UNC football outside of Chapel Hill. And certainly nobody in the SEC gives a F about the Gamecocks. The only reason we are interested is because they are our rival. "Rival", I should say.

I disagree. unc has a pretty good program now. Recruiting wise, they had the best class in conference and top 10 at that.
They got off to a shaky start, but so did we.
I can't stand unc, but they will be very tough, at least, for the next 5 or 6 seasons. Not convinced? Look at their latest recruiting class.

I didn't say anything about how good or not good they are...I said nobody cares. They are not a draw for football outside their little NC footprint.

Eliminate the conference championship games and rely on regular season conference records to determine a league's champ. For decades many conferences did this without having all of their teams play each other.
Regular season Power 5 champs plus 3 at-large make up an 8-team CFP. Schedule the 2nd weekend in December (1 week later than today's CCG weekend) for the top 4 programs to host the first round (Friday night, 3 on Saturday). The 4 losers of the first round games get thrown in with the "first 4 out" group for the non-CFP NY6 bowl games. Everything else plays out just like today with bowls, the semis, and the natty in January.
CCG's are a hodgepodge today - some are play ins, some play outs, some don't matter squat. Plus too many rematches. Replace them with 4 games of supreme relevance and stay the course on the rest.

When the playoff is expanded (8 - 12 - 16), move all the bowls to August and have August be the kickoff to the next year.

Me too!! Having to watch every bowl game is my excuse to avoid spousal overseen chores when we are both home for the holidays. I'm being stared at right now to get me to take down the Christmas decorations. I faked her out by watching 2 rebroadcast bowl games already.

What harm does it cause really? Don't want to see the Weedwhacker Bowl? Don't watch. I haven't but I'm glad it's played.
It's a long time until Fall Practice. Enjoy it while it's played...if it's played at all.

Not sure its Progress. Players won't get bowl benefits

all the perks that came with going to a bowl. Heck, even the bands have fun at bowl games. You will have less "end of year winners". Going out on winning note is fun for fans , coaches and players.
expanded playoffs means more unhappy fans, players and coaches as only 1 team wins it all. We all know most years there are only a handful of teams deserving of a National Championship. Bowl system allows for 40 teams to go out on a good note.
to each his own though.
