Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Friday night went up to Cherokee with Shorty and his sweet lady to see Jamey Johnson in concert. Show was good, did a tiny amount of gambling then called it a night.
Saturday, got some breakfast then I went back to the casino and played blackjack for a couple hours, walked out up $55. Rest of the day was just bummin' aroung.
Sunday, super lazy day.

Good. Saturday was the second snow day of the week.

Kids sledded until they dug a hole in the grass. Plenty of hot chocolate drank. Snowman built, all the normal snow stuff.
Sunday was FIL's birthday party. Cake, frimp and gritz, and then the obligatory falling asleep on the couch watching football after.
All pretty good. 8.8/10.

Pretty much a meh weekend. Kid_of took Ms. Wilbur (no pigs of either) to the Downton Abbey expo in Hotlanta for the Ms. birfday...I saved $45 by not going and got to have drinks.
9.9 out of 10 (18.5/19 on the RH Covid scale)...minor deductions cuz I got yelled at for drinking too much

COVID-y

Tested positive Thursday afternoon. Put my time at home to good use and drank my face off Friday and Saturday. Had pizza delivered and buddy dropped off a case of beer. Wife positive as well, and assume the little one is (she has had a low grade fever all w/e but no other symptoms). Can go back to work Wednesday.
Symptoms pretty mild. Headache, fever, stuffy head, and sore throat. All clear now except temp is hanging in the mid 99s. Final covid comment is, we are keeping the world shut down for THIS?
F>ucking ridiculous.

Some people die from the flu. Some people die from the common cold. Some people die when they drive to work. Some people die when they pi$s off a cop. But you knew that.
Protect the vulnerable. Everyone else get back to your f>ucking life. Done with it.

Couple comments, then I'll shut up
Jan 24, 2022, 8:32 AM
[ in reply to Yea, I know that ] |
|
1. Not much is shut down right now. The world isn't shut down because of COVID. When we did have shut-downs, the "strain" of COVID was arguable worse and there were no vaccines that I recall. If vaccines were available, it was for the very vulnerable.
2. It aint just vulnerable people dying. Yes, a majority of the deaths are people with comorbidities, but it is not limited to them.
3. The number of deaths from COVID far outweigh the number of flu deaths. That is a bad take and has been from the get go.
4. Glad you guys are doing fine, most of us here would be in the same boat. I assume it will enter our house sooner or later and I almost want to just get it over with. I am sure that there is probably a little relief for you guys now that you got it, passed it, and can come back out arguably healthier on the other side.

Whether it is shut down or not was not really the point, so maybe I mis-worded it a little. Sue me. The real point is there is massive stupidity still out there in how we have dealt with this and how we are continuing to deal with it. I’ll go back and edit my post if it makes everyone feel better. Keeping our kids in masks is dumb, Karens screaming at people in the grocery stores for not wearing masks is dumb, Fauci is dumb. Stupidity abounds.
2. It aint just vulnerable people dying. Yes, a majority of the deaths are people with comorbidities, but it is not limited to them.
3. The number of deaths from COVID far outweigh the number of flu deaths. That is a bad take and has been from the get go.
2/3 can go together.
Never said it was just the vulnerable, I said protect the vulnerable. I never argued anything about the umber of deaths related to flu vs. covid, so it can’t be a bad take because there wasn’t a take to be had. I didn’t type those words. The point was that there is risk in almost everything we do. If people are so scared of dying, fine stay home. Do it on your own time and quit telling others how to live their life. Get busy living or get busy dying. If people want to get busy living, I’m all for it.
4. Glad you guys are doing fine, most of us here would be in the same boat. I assume it will enter our house sooner or later and I almost want to just get it over with. I am sure that there is probably a little relief for you guys now that you got it, passed it, and can come back out arguably healthier on the other side.

If people would stay home when they have the flu there would be near as many of those deaths either. Dang hero culture of suck it up and go to work even if you’re sick costs way more in productivity than a keep your ### at home so everybody doesn’t get sick mentality

is in danger again. Son's girlfriend called last night and said she'd had symptoms and been tested. Tested son with two home tests just to be sure and he was positive both. He has no symptoms. So now I get to go back to waiting to catch the Covid and imagining symptoms.

Fri - Picked up wings for dinner, watched a movie with the kids, breached the peach before bed
Sat - MsLovin made pancakes for breakfast, went to dad's lake with the fam and explored (lake is 20 ft down).
Sun - Church in the morning, loaded the kayak after lunch and with fishing at Dad's. Caught 2 spots and a chain pickerel, was hoping for better production.

Is Hartwell 20 ft down?
Jan 24, 2022, 8:11 AM
|
|
Yes, Hartwell is covered up with spots as is Russell and Keowee.
You're thinking of redfish, red drum, spot tails, I don't really know all the names lowcountry folks do.
Most of the bass you catch in Hartwell will be spotted bass "spots".
They are a little meaner and their gums/teeth are a little meaner. They will have small black spots on their bellies that may or may not be noticeable. They are usually smaller than largemouths.

I think the scientific way to tell a spot from a largemouf
Jan 24, 2022, 8:43 AM
[ in reply to Hadn't heard that term. I always thought spots were caught ] |

has to do with the jaw line. Spot exends to eye, LM extends beyond the eye. I think they are a hybrid of some sort....like a LM crossed with some other type of bass.
There are also subspecies of spots. There's an Alabama spot and a redeye Coosa. There may be a 3rd type out in Texas as well.

Friday, spent the day not doing #### even though I was suppose to be working. Washed the dogs so they didn't have to be outside during the ice storm. Refused to let daughter of to travel to a wedding rehearsal.
Saturday: Got up, let the kids play in the ice/snow. Didn't do much the rest of the day.
Sunday: One of the dogs had diarrhea during the night. So I woke up and cleaned all of that. Got everything prepped for the week. That's about it.

Cold.
Jan 24, 2022, 8:11 AM
|
|
Friday: cold. Stopped by to see dad for a minute. Went home. Ate a gummy and had a few cocktails, watched the new Matrix movie because last day on HBOMax. Was aight, but after the first 30 minutes or so, it was basically like watching...The Matrix. Almost like deja vu, which as we all know, is a glitch in the Matrix.
Saturday: cold. Anthony at Swig & Swine posted a pic of his BBQ loaded baked potato, and it worked. Got us to Swig that night.
Sunday: cold. Went to a buddy's first hockey game--he actually had a fan club out there with like 8 of us that showed up. Was entirely amusing. Watched first game over at some other frans' house/back porch. Rams/Bucs was wayyyy entertaining, so obviously, no way the Chiefs/Bills could even come close to that.
This weekend's games have more than made up for last weekend's stinkers. Haven't had that much fun watching NFL in years and years.

Finished my hallway renovation. Now I hope I can throw my hotdog down it. Still waiting on the new doors to show up... but it's essentially done. Got rid of 1960's chandelier, popkern ceiling, added Wayne Scotting, re-trimmed doors, painted all surfaces.
Kids had basketball games. Daughter's team got shellacked. Their two best players were "snowed in", so she played almost the entire game... two fouls, 7 steals, a few boards. Her team lost 22-4 I think. Son's team won, and is still undefeated. Coach named him player of the game. 2 points, 15 boards, 2 fouls, a few assists, and a handful of steals. He's so modest. Told the coach he felt like two other boys deserved it more than him . ***stats are a combination of the coach's notes and my rough estimate.***
Worked on re-wiring my johnny boat in my spare time.
Uhhhh it freaking snowed. So the fam and I played in it.
Boozed at Lowes foods last night... Let my 9 year old do our grocery shopping. They were serving "No-mosas"... solo cups full of prosecco with just a splash of OJ... for $1.50/each.
Watched We Were Soldiers... I'd never seen it before.
Woke up at 3AM with the screaming squirts. Not sure what TF that was all about....
Had an "oof moment". Our dishwasher has been out of serivce for 2 years. It crapped the bed right after I put in new hardwood floors, and was stuck. I was going to need to pull the countertop to get it out. Told the wife that I'd replace it when I redid the cabinets... but we kept kicking that can down the road. Finally, wife had a melt-down yesterday about having to handwash dishes. I said, well I'll pull the countertop and dig into it. But danged if I couldn't remember what the problem was... so we ran a cycle to see what the issue was and IT FREAKING WORKED LIKE A CHARM. I played it off like I made the wife and kids learn a valuable lesson and now they'll appreciate having a dishwasher. They didn't think that was funny one bit. I think the issue from two years ago was that it wouldn't drain. Guess it healed itself... Who knows.

Friday: Tried a new Mexican spot. It was so-so. The tacos were decent but everything else left something to be desired. Our hopes were up because the photos of their food looked so good. I'd still give it another shot though. Watched Moneyball on Netflix. B.
Saturday: Braved the cold to repair our fence gate and install a new latch. Organized the storage shed. Spent the afternoon with in laws as BIL was in town. Watched some NFL games and CBB games. Lazy dinner of pasta after we got home. Made a late night grocery run. B.
Sunday: Up early for church. Great service and sermon. Kept son of while wife of went to gym. Prepped some apple dumplings for tonight. Took a family walk in the afternoon. Went to my parents for an early dinner. Watched more NFL games. KC/Buffalo was the best football game I've seen all year. Stayed up too late and son of didn't sleep well, possibly due to ice cream and chocolate pie at dinner. B.
Overall: too #### cold but we made the most of it. B.

I'm not sure if it was laid back, lazy, or boring.
Jan 24, 2022, 8:29 AM

Maybe all three.
Friday, went to see RH Mom after work, stopped by Chicken Salad Chick on the way home for take-out. It was delicious, I'll definitely go back. Home to eat and watch Electra Glide In Blue and Easy Rider, and watch it snow more than I thought it might.
Saturday, rolled out of bed and made coffee, posted up in the Big Chair since Mrs. was getting ready to watch Yesterday. It had been on my list for a while and turned out to be a great movie. Couple of long hikes in the snow with the pup, mostly melted away by late afternoon. Played a LOT of bass Saturday. I'm on a roll learning a bunch of 70s Motown/R&B/Soul tunes, so pretty much had a blast with that off and on all day. Mrs. threw some burgers in the cast iron, watched some football, crashed around midnight.
Sunday, had to monitor a work situation with a high-profile client most of the morning. It's rare that I ever have to think about work between 5 pm on Friday and 8 am on Monday, but this was one of those rare occasions. Had to elevate it to vendor support since it was their platform after I exhausted every avenue of me fixing it and then went about my day. Another really long hike with the pup, then a grocery run. My foot slipped off the step rail of the truck as I was getting in to leave the store and I managed to crack my tailbone, my ankle and jarred my lower back all at the same time. Nothing that bourbon and watching a lot of football sitting immobile on the Big Chair couldn't fix, so that's what I did.
Between deadly pandemic and weather, I guess I made the best of it. I'm already ready for summer though. 17.75/19 Covids, most of the deductions coming from my Sunday truck backcident.

pretty chill
Jan 24, 2022, 8:55 AM

and by chill, I mean colder than ####
fri - made some southwest chicken soup. loaded this sombich up with heat. 4 japs, 2 habs, 2 serranos, green chiles, chipotle peppers in adobo. my thought was to go WW2 on whatever ####### sickness ######## me and the wife got going and throw a fire bomb in the hole. seems like it worked and damnitboy was it good. gone freeze the rest.
sat - been making some heart healthy breakfasts over the weekends. don't reckon i've posted bout it yet. basically egg white omlette stuffed w/ veggies. no cheese or butter or oil (quick spray of avocado oil we got from costco for omlette). shrooms, peppers, onions, spinach, maters, whatever else I have leftover from the week - diced up and sauteed. i've mastered these and they're ####### dope.
had to run into town to visit with In-laws and drop off some pictures or something. idk, i just rode along.
watched football
sun - breakfast, football. put dawghater2baby BOB stroller together now that she can sit up. took that for a spin since it was finally sunny and not frigid cold.
great football games. was in the hole and the chiefs bills game pulled me out to even there in the last 2 minutes.

Today is January 24, 2022. My children have been in school
Jan 24, 2022, 9:05 AM
|
|
10 days since December 22. My calculations say they are 23 days at home. That is too much time and I am quite tired of working from home with 3 kids. Hopefully the next few months will get back to normal. This is without any kind of COVID related stuff having them home. If that happens, I may go batsh>it crazy.
I am not sure what I did this weekend except watch Ozark, Season 4, Part 1. It was good. I hated that b>itch.

I know. I AM crying about it. This is where I vent and cry about how terrible my life is.

Sorry this is Tiggity P&R long
Friday nothing, Saturday nothing, Sunday, drove to South myrtle to look at my two houses.
Surfside house-I have to let the agent know today by 5pm if I'm still in it. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. House was built in 1956, has had an additions, has been "redone" but has a lot of work that still needs to be done. That would fall on the new owner (me)-someone who would much rather sit on a couch than work on a house for the rest of his life. And its a good thing I'm short, because this thing has <7' ceilings. It kinda freaks me out when I walk in cause its kinda like a cave. The windows are low, so they are like looking out a porthole on a ship. Best part is its in the middle of Surfside, so it's close to everything, including the beach. Its also one story, so no steps. I like that part.
The new house is about 2 days past where I saw it last on Jan 2. The walls appear to be painted, and they have some of the flooring down. Driveway is about half way done, and it now has a kitchen sink. No toilets, sinks, countertops, appliances, elevator, lights, sprinklers, grass, or fence. Lots of detail and touch up paint to be done. One of the doors is mismatched. They have until Feb 9 until the inspection, close date is Feb 17. Word from up the street is one house that teh builder built has failed to close twice, and basically the builder is like "too effing bad, we'll sell it to someone else". That's the mentality I'm dealing with there.
So I have to decide if I want to buy the Surfside house before today at 5. I'm in a quandary. If I don't buy it, chances are I'll have to postpone closing on the other house. I don't want to do that, because they still won't finish, and nothing will get done post close. If I do buy it, I have a bunch of work I'll be doing to live in a midgets cave.
I'm thinking of buying both, and then figuring it out from there.

Friday - kick ### workout to end the workday, picked up my son and daughter, ordered them pizza....then I went out to dinner with a good friend of mine. Prime Rib, Calamari, buttered rolls, shrimp salad.....amazing food. Then we went and met up with some more friends and I straight blacked out by 11:30. Good times. I remember hopping in the Uber...after that, I have no idea. I came home and took a shower and ate leftover pizza....from what my wife told me.
Saturday - woke up, made breakfast and then got kids ready for ski lessons. Went to breakfast and had biscuits and gravy. Then went and had mimosas with some friends. Came home and slept until kids got home with the wife. Took my son to the worst birthday party of all time. Zap Zone is anxiety inducing to the max. That was really bad and then the kids mom kept wanting to talk to me about my "sign" and how she felt "really good energy from me". She was not hot, it was not cool, I wanted out of there. Made it back home, made some dinner and then put kids to bed as the wife went to girls night.
Sunday - woke up, went to gym and kicked my tail for over an hour. Got back home and played with kids and then took my son to grandpas house to play for a while and daughter and wife went to a birthday party. I layed around, then went and checked on the boat and then grabbed a beer. We had people over for tacos and they were amazing. Some more beer drinking and NFL watching with our friends.
8/10 for sure. I will say -2 points for how ridiculously drunk I got on Friday.

Friday: took wife of (pork_tenderloin) and daughter of (lamb_chop) to a local farmers market. Lamb_chop loves nanners. Then hit the round with Thomas on a recruiting visit down in Georgia. He was checking in on a tackle and I was there seeing a linebacker.
Satiday: was very lazy and watched Ozark and drank bourbon.
Sunday: had to work, felt like facebookcoach was mocking me the whole time. Got an under the radar safety to commit. So that was nice.

Friday...don't remember
Saturday...survived snow part II. Watched some good NFL games. Took son-of to the Clemson BB game vs Pitt. Got tickets on-line for $10, parked at Jervey for free. Game was at 6pm...let Anderson at 5:15, saw tip-off, stayed until end, home by 8:45. Can't beat it. 1st BB game in a LONG time...maybe since I was in school. Was about half full (at best)...we walked around a got good seats. Best I've seen our team play in a good while, helped by the fact that Pitt sucks. We shot well and they couldn't buy a basket. That had multiple Clemsonesque droughts and we didn't really have any to speak of. Good to see PJ Hall playing well.
Sunday...cleaned up garage with daughter-of, both NFL games were great. Fixed steak fageetas for dinner. Late game possibly the best QB battle I've ever seen...total over 700 yds passing, both QBs led their team in rushing, no picks, huge plays down the stretch. Really wanted Bills to win. But they royally eff'd up by not squib kicking off with 13 seconds left...and then giving Travis Kelce free release right down the middle. Horrible. And the NFL playoff OT rules need to be changed...they're stupid.
