If they are ranked in the top 15, they get a spot in the BCS

Oklahoma got snubbed last year so NIU could go to the Orange Bowl.

They also have to be ranked ahead of one of the automatic qualifier (BCS) conferences. Right now they are ahead of UCF and Louisville (Big East) so they are in good shape. Last year Northern Illinois got the Orange Bowl berth because they were ranked high enough and ranked ahead of Wisconsin (Big 10) I think.

If Clemson is ranked in the top 4 of the BCS we get an automatic berth. There is a good chance that could happen. Just keep winning and everything will take care of itself. GO TIGERS!

6 conference champions. 1or2 non-AQ schools stealing one still leaves 2 or 3 at large bids. I am confident we will be one of the 3 best teams with no automatic bid by the end of the season.

Well it's possible if Bama and Oregon play, mostly due to

the fact that the OB won't be able to select us to play against FSU.
First, if we manage to get into the top 4 of the final BCS we are automatically in as an at-large.
Now, here's the bad scenario:
Bama vs Oregon title game (just assuming neither lose for the moment)
Sugar takes an SEC at-large with 1st pick (they like to do this)
Rose has Ohio State and takes a Pac 12 at-large with 2nd pick (they like to do this too)
Orange Bowl has FSU and selects another at large because they can not select us. I'm really not sure who because they also would not be able to take an SEC or Pac 12 team. That would leave teams like Michigan St or Wisconsin i guess.
Fiesta has Baylor and is forced to take either AAC champion or Fresno/NIU
Sugar has SEC team and is forced to take the last team, either AAC champion of Fresno/NIU
So basically we just get totally screwed there by the selection order b/c the 3rd bowl to pick that would normally pick us can not.

Sugar then Fiesta last, but it really wouldn't matter b/c they would still have to take the two remaining AQ teams.

into all this thinking that teams that play in the MWC and MAC deserve spots in BCS bowls.
Look online at their schedules. While each has had impressive wins and will merit bowl trips, there is a reason why they're in the type of conferences they are. And although I realize there have been examples of David's defeating Goliath's over the years, those types of games are not indicative of a team's overall strength.
Of course, we live in times of political correctness, whereby a utopian world yields equality for all. However, I just don't believe teams that play others like Idaho, Nevada, East Illinois or Mass quite warrant key spots in the top bowls.

If, in addition, FSU doesn't make the title game, we could be on the outside looking in.
