So ole Lou received the Presidential Medal of Freedom !?!?!

The President even said that Lou is "really a life teacher" noting the respect and loyalty Holtz earned from the many players he mentored.

Apparently the POTUS has not read "Under the Tarnished Dome".

The POTUS also said "wherever Lou went, football glory followed."

I guess he forgot to mention the NCAA probation that also followed Lou wherever he went.

I used to work with a big Notre Dame booster, who told me, point blank, that he had been told by more than one player on that 1988 National Championship team that they felt they had won it IN SPITE OF Lou Holtz, not because of him. I guess it doesn't really matter now, one way or the other, since Granny is long retired.
