Former Clemson guard transfers to UNCG

A former Tiger finds a new home. Former Clemson guard John Newman III announced on social media Tuesday night that he has transferred to UNC Greensboro. You left us for ....... unc greensboro? I suppose there would be more playing time vs lower competition. Lower recognition, lower air time (tv) and lower level of competition. I hope you know what you are doing. You were poised to be one if the leaders on the team. Maybe you know something we dont (coaching), wouldnt surprise me there. Either way, good luck. Hope you do well and attain what you need.

Will miss him. Never forget his drive and dunk v. Duke last year! I’m not the coach, but I would have played him more. Best wishes Newman!

Good Luck to John.
I watched him closely all year (Saw 13 home games and ACC Tournament in person plus every other game on TV) and despite his decreased playing time he always supported and celebrated his team mates. He always hustled when he got in the game. Don't understand what happened but he has handled this situation with class as far I can see. My son is crushed that he is leaving but gotta wish him the best. Go Tigers!

I guess if you want more playing time Greensboro makes sense for him. It’s a program on the rise and Wes Miller is a rising star as a coach, plus it’s home. I hate this new transfer rule but maybe it’s an ok move for him.

Regret to see him leave. Was one of the few on the roster who could create own shot. Made over 52% from inside the arc 2019-20 season. Wasn't fearful to drive the lane area.
