Concerning the coaching search.

I know nothing. No sources, no friedn with sources, no friends with relatives who have barbers who have sources. So, here is what I speculate is happening.

1. James Franklin is going somewhere. I can't find the link right now but one of his after-practice pressers he sure sounded like a guy with one foot out the door. He hired Jimmy Sexton as his agent. He could be sitting in the catbird seat and told Jimmy - get me the biggest deal possible - knowing that LSU and USC and Penn State want him.

2. I think Franklin is going to LSU. (My second guess is he's going to USC.)

3. If Franklin doesn't go to LSU my second and third guesses would be Kiffin and Tucker, in that order.

4. My first guess for USC is Luke Fickell. I haven't kept up with that close enough to have a second guess, other than Franklin.

5. I really haven't tried to figure out who I think will go to TT.

As for our game Saturday, I am allowing myself to think there is an outside chance for us to beat Clemson, but I'm certainly not expecting it. But, the good news is two months ago I was expecting a 50+ point difference in the score. I'm expecting a much closer game than that. Force me to pick a score and I'll say 28-13, Clemson.

Message boards are for varying opinions ... I'll comment about your J.Franklin views.

J.Franklin unquestionably did a great job at Vanderbilt. Penn State (top shelf program) ... eh.

D.Mullen compares to J.Franklin. Mullen did a great job at Miss. State. U. of Florida ... eh.

Sooner or later, D.Mullen will wash out at U of F; he won't then get some whopper job like LSU or USC.

I can't see Franklin getting the LSU job. Maybe at USC (a rose whose bloom has faded a lot) will give Franklin a sniff (or more).

L.Kiffen is the perfect fit for LSU, and vice versa. Kiffen is a dirt ball; LSU has never shied away from dirt balls. Kiffen doesn't need to trust LSU; LSU doesn't need to trust Kiffen. It's kind of like Bill Clinton's girl friends; each knows that the other is not some 'long term relationship' but that's OK with both.
