Concerning Richard Yeargin III, I know that the "experts"

Jan 25, 2014, 10:20 AM

are now predicting Clemson as his probable choice. However, looking at it from a historical recruiting perspective, I am not so sure we are in the most advantageous position.

Reports are that Auburn, Florida and Arkansas have been pressing RYIII pretty hard for a visit. He has already completed his Clemson visit, and it is likely that at least one school will convince him to take a visit to their school before NSD. His head has to be spinning after making a decommitment this close to NSD, and I'd imagine his phone is blowing up.

He is going to be pressed HARD from now till NSD, and if we don't get his commitment soon, I believe that our chances of landing him will start to slip.

Am I off base in this line of thinking?

A lot of truth in your thoughts. However I've always felt that Yeargin and family liked Clemson more than the media wrote. I think he signs with us.Look at our depth chart at OLB and DE.He would see the field early .The OB win makes us a player with these national recruits.

Good point...we need to start looking for some quality depth

at the LB/DE position. These guys are here, then graduate in the blink of an eye...

Clemson, pretty much makes it a certainty that we won't get him given their track record on such speculation.

I agree somewhat with what you are saying, but his father played football at SC State, and he has family in SC, so that will probably play a major part in his decision as well.
