College Station

Jan 12, 2018, 10:32 AM

Did any of you go last time? Starting to think about planning a 4-5 day vacation out there. I'm debating between flying into Houston or Austin. Any good recommendations?

Flew into Houston and made the short drive which was enjoyable. Go to Northgate (think downtown Gville except smaller)you probably won't have to buy many if any drinks. Aggies fans are awesome.

Go to Midnight Yell Practice!!

Oh and it's hot and humid as Hades!!

and will likely do so again in 2018.

If memory serves, it was about a 90 minute drive from Houston to College Station.

We flew into Houston and stayed in College Station. Aggie fans were really cool and welcoming.

Two bar recommendations:
--The Dixie Chicken. This is a fairly iconic and large bar.
--The Shot Bar. I've never seen anything like this place. You enter from one street, go through and order shots, take the shots, then exit out onto the other street. You're supposed to keep moving. No beer--just shots. And there is barely any room for customers--just a narrow passage running along the bar.

I just looked online and it seems as though the "Shot Bar" has been re-named "Dry Bean Saloon" (or I just mis-remembered the name from 14 years ago).

I forgot the name too...

but that's probably because we walked through about six times.

The Fireball was flowing !!!!

Thinking the same thing, but tickets are silly pricey right now. Do they drop closer to game day?
