CO-DC Bates/Reed

When Chad Morris left, Dabo promoted Scott and Elliott to CO-OC. Thoughts on Mike Reed and Todd Bates being promoted to CO-DC. Reed seems to recruit well and develops NFL talent every year. Todd Bates is an elite recruiter (rivals recruiter of the year 2019) and also develops NFL talent. Then possibly move Lemanski Hall to LB and promote Migual Chavis to DE? Of course these are all hypothetical and contingent on Venables leaving.

I think the offense is a little different since I believe Dabo is intimately involved with the offense and could still keep everything on track. On the defensive side of the ball, he’s got to hope these guys learned enough from Brent to keep it going. Personally, I’d hire an established DC since that’s not in Dabo’s wheelhouse, rather than letting someone cut their teeth in the role.

Clemson needs bates on this staff, his recruiting ability is important especially with venables being gone.
I have heard parker from iowa's name thrown around and as good of a mind as parker is, he isn't a elite recruiter by any stretch of the imagination,
If Clemson was to land a dc with experience that isn't a top notch recruiter...they have to give bates a substantial raise to keep him here for recruiting purposes.

I think Dabo has a plan....he's known this was coming....

Don't be surprised if Dabo doesn't shock the world with this hire
