Clemson Very Likely to Orange Bowl for 1st Round

Oct 30, 2018, 9:49 AM

If Clemson is #1 #2 or #3 we most likely end up in Orange Bowl. As long as Clemson is not #4 we should end up in Miami as we certainly get Miami as #1 and if we are #2 or #3 we likely end up getting the Orange bowl as Bama, LSU, ND, Oklahoma and any Big 10 team would likely get Dallas. I might be mistaken on the Big 10 selection (lots of scabby Yankees live in FL) but I don't think the Big 10 winner will be #1 and get that placemnt. UGA if they made it back to #1 would also get Miami over Dallas so I think the chances of Clemson going to it's second home for the playoffs is very good.

Assuming Clemson wins out I put our chances to play in Miami at at least 80%. Your thoughts. And Yes I am looking many games in the future and assuming Clemson makes the playoffs so no need to tell me to focus.

Huh?

I thought the playoff stadiums were already chosen.

1 & 4 play on the left coast and 2 & 3 play in Florida.

Is that not right?

#1 seed gets Stadium closest to their campus

No #1 Seed Is Placed to Most Advantageous Site For Them

Based on Travel Fan base etc. Essentially the 1 Seed is going to get what they want as they will have signaled that.

From Wiki May Be Wrong But Sounds Right

The four-team format pits the No. 1-ranked team against No. 4 and No. 2 against No. 3. The seeding determines the semifinal bowl game assigned to each matchup; the No. 1 seed is assigned to the site closest to its campus to prevent it from playing in a "road" environment. There are no limits on the number of teams per conference, a change from previous BCS rules.

Not exactly...

You have the games right but the No. 1 seed will have its choice of venues.

If Clemson is the one seed, we're not going to Texas. We'll play the four seed in Miami in which case, the two and three seeds would play in the Cotton Bowl.

I don’t think it’s a choice

Oct 30, 2018, 12:55 PM

I think it’s just geographic, #1 seed plays at closest stadium. I don’t think we chose to play Bama in their backyard in New Orleans last year when we were #1 seed, it was just the closest.

Nope...

The Orange Bowl hosts one semi-final game and the Cotton Bowl hosts the other.

The National Championship game is at Levis Stadium in San Jose, California.

In the past the number 1 ranked team got the closest venue to their campus for the play offs.

The No. 1 seed will get its choice.***

Was told by my Clemson roommate (who is a Past President of

the Orange Bowl Committee) that Clemson will go to Miami if they are #1 or #2 since the connection with the ACC and Orange Bowl.
