grand ole place especially in my life.
In the 50’s my parents took us there for Sunday lunch from Greenville..in 1966 my parents gave me a graduation luncheon there..in 199? I went there from Charlotte to be present for the huge & sad announcement that Danny was fired (stood with former lineman & Architect Jimmy Wells, brother of Joel)..and for years I camped out below it in parking spaces overlooking Bowman Field in a small camper van where I watched many homecoming displays being built by students along with hearing their loud music.
What a place, the CLEMSON HOUSE!
GoTiGERs!

When I was a freshman and only 18 there was a cool old teacher that lived in there. I won't give his name, but he was an architect teacher. He would serve us one drink. Always thought that was cool. RIP

Joe was a nice old guy, fun to hang out with. Passed away a while ago.

As an architectural grad back in 75 I also knew Joe and had a drink or 2 with him at the house. I'm sure it was a grand ole place in it's early years.

Who didn't eat Sunday lunch at the Clemson House or get an occasional haircut from Mr. Lay?

My Clemson House memory
Nov 10, 2021, 1:28 PM

When I was accepted to Clemson, I was invited to join the Honors Program, which at that time was housed in Clemson House. I toured Clemson House, met several of the students, then said that I would join the Honors Program ONLY IF I was not required to live in Clemson House. I did not want to be labeled a geek.
Well, Clemson House got the last laugh. I only lasted a year in the Honors Program (probation after fall semester, expulsion after spring). Wonder what might have happened differently if I had lived there?

Thanks for sharing, TigerSwimmer. My sister lived there when she was at Clemson. She absolutely loved it. She had a chance to move into an apartment, but chose to remain at the CHouse. She said that everything she needed was right there. Not to mention the remarkable friendships she made while there.

I was hardly ever in the place which I regret. It was off the beaten path for me.

My parents and I ate there and when I didn't go home for Thanksgiving one year in early 70's I went up there to eat. I remember meeting a distinguished Col. Sanders lookalike. A very polite white haired and goatee gentleman dressed in a white suite. Fascinating.

I remember dropping my meal plan from unlimited to 30x and somehow my Tiger Stripe never ran out at C-House all year. That was big. Like free #### on Friends or a no-hitter, I didn’t want to jinx it.

Had many a Sunday lunch there as a little kid.
And then to get to live there for 2 years ? A dream that I didn't know was even possible.

The food there was supposed to be different and better. I'm not sure that it was, but it always felt special.
