I've watched a few of this guys videos.

He's somewhat enjoyable to listen to, but I find his content to be lacking. Seems like it is nothing more than him just giving his opinion and perception with no real information to back it up. (Sorta like what I do on message boards.)

Fun to listen to, and in the end he may be right. But, he could be wrong just as easily.

I wouldn't bet on it but he sure is saying what I want to hear. I'd bet he is wrong that a challenge will happen before this coming season. BTW, I'm not a gambler.

Here's another that just came out an hour ago on FSU, Clemson, Miami and UNC leading the charge on dissolving the ACC.

I think the ACC will be dissolved within the next two months. I believe the SEC and the BIG have both agreed to take the eight teams that are going to vote to dissolve the ACC. THE SEC will take Clemson, FSU, MIAMI, AND GT. The BIG will take ND UNC, DUKE and UVA.

THE MOVES WILL TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY. Good rivalries for both leagues will come from this. BIG gets basketball and academics, SEC gets FB and Atlanta tv mkt. We get to play Ga., FSU, MIAMI, GT, USC, BAMA, FLA, TEXAS, KY, MSTATE. and occasionally, Oklahoma, Auburn, and LSU.

I CAN DREAM re schedule.

Makes sense. After ND helps to get to 8 votes to disband they can park basketball and their other sports in the Big East and stay independent in football like UConn did. Same with Cuse and BC. Bet they would love having Big East basketball even closer to what it used to be. ND, UConn, Cuse and BC can round out their football schedule with one another the way ND does now with a handful of ACC teams every year.

VT, NCState, Pitt and Louisville to Big 12.

Sorry Wake but it's American conference for you.

oh well One can dream!

I think it's entirely unrealistic...

2

to believe that a number of schools in the ACC aren't looking for a path out of the league. There is simply too much at stake not to be proactive in this regard. Whether this guy has any clue what he's talking about, is anyone's guess.

Re: I agree. However,

Apr 24, 2023, 8:45 AM

Not sure it’s possible. At least not right now. There are a handful of schools no one wants. People can argue who they are, doesn’t really matter. But I believe the reality is that just some acc schools are going to be in a worse deal than they currently are.

That said, any school perceived to be a “SEC” target, is not going any where. ESPN/ ABC owns the ACC tv contract. I don’t think they care about matchups. They have plenty. They care about programming/games, and filling tv slots. So why pay more for what you already have. Unless the numbers work to where losing teams allows them to redistribute those costs more effectively. So you have the SEC targets and the schools no one wants which prevents a vote against dissolving. No one seems to have the hundreds of millions needed to buy their way out. So that leaves a log jam because I am assuming a vote to dissolve takes 2/3s or more.

That’s why I don’t think anything other than “ talk” is going to happen.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think the prevailing theory is...

1

Apr 24, 2023, 9:00 AM

if eight teams ban together and leave the league, the ACC would effectively cease to exist and the fall-out would dissolve the GOR and ACC's TV contract with ESPN. That money would then be available to redistribute to other leagues. Of course, A LOT of moving parts and pieces would have to fall into place in order for any of that to happen.

I think the most feasible scenario is that the league and those teams that want to exit will eventually negotiate some kind of amicable resolution. If the parties are unsuccessful in doing so, that's when you'll start seeing the lawsuits being filed.

For the ACC (i.e., the league office), this is all about self-preservation and that will be their priority over what is in the best interest of the member institutions.

Overheard in the ACC offices: "We've got to protect our

Mel Brooks would probably be a better ACC Commissioner than anything we have had to date.

Don't get me wrong JYT, I'd love to see the ACC crumble then be in a league where you can play 6 lame teams and still have a top ten SOS. I just don't see the number of ACC teams willing to let turn their golden gooses loose.

How did I originate the rumor? It was originated by the person on you tube. Secondly, I did not offer any comment when I posted the link. I saw no need to comment at that time.

The ACC is going to be dissolved sooner or later. I think sooner. Too much money on the table to not pursue.
