Clemson basketball will be just fine next year.

They were picked 11th preseason and finished 8th. That's not too bad, but leaves room for growth and improvement. Let's remember Brad lost 75 percent of his offensive and only returned 1 player on the starting roster from a year ago. Simms. Clyde Trapp was recovering from ACL. Which brings me to injuries. Not having Jonathan Baher really hurt this year. He's a 6-10 kid that can extend and shoot. Tore his ACL last year and did it again this year. Then there's Chase Hunter who got injured out for the season as well after a few games in. Add in the fact Alex Hemenway broke something in his foot the first game of the year and it's almost unbelievable, yet this team eventually gathered some chemistry and put it all together. The one thing I believe hurt us this year above all was lack of leadership in house. With a team being so young I could tell everyone was looking for someone to lead them some games. Hopefully next year with experience under their belts Newman and Tyson can take the next step with Simms. I could see Hemenway be a major factor as well. Add in the 2 freak athletes (both top 100 players) we have coming in and things look bright for basketball. Will we suffer some heart breaks next year absolutely. It's hard to be consistent in basketball, but I expect a 20 plus win season next year if healthy.

I think we will be really good.

You'd hope so, but history makes me doubt it.

Someone will get hurt. Someone will transfer out. Incoming freshman will be streaky.

We will be picked higher and finish below projections and miss the NCAA. Because that's what almost always happens when we think the team will be good.

I think we make the NCAA next year.

Then the next year we have an injury or two and somebody transfers out, and we go to the NIT and get bumped in the first round by Colgate. The year after that will be a rebuilding year.

Do realize the entire ACC lost a similar percent of its productivity from last season and that led to the conference’s historic finish as last amongst the Power 5 and behind the AAC in power rankings? Conversely, the ACC will return the highest percentage of productivity of all P5 conferences next season. So, on paper, nothing about Clemson’s relative position doesn’t really change. And, with nearly a full season behind them and no significant injuries the experienced squad we’re relying on for projections of big success next year dropped their last two regular season games to 2 middling teams.

If being fine is finishing 8th or lower in ACC and getting beat by Sadie's Senior Sunday School class ; yeah they will be fine ??

Maybe we'll be picked 12th, and finish 8th.

That will be an improvement!
