Clemson Basketball going to France in August...

May 12, 2022, 12:01 PM

To tour and play a few games. Guess good way to get some inexperienced point guards in the rotation. Dawes was a freshman in the same boat the summer of the world games. Wasn't a huge factor finishing 16-15. Hope they are using that as a selling point to get one last good experienced PG from portal.
I wish I knew about some good PGs visiting soon.

Repeat trip.

We’ll get our PG. You’ll be disappointed regardless. Water is wet.

there were some just decent guys that Clemson lost out on that they finished close for. McIntosh from Elon was not great but better experienced at any PG by far on the team. That would have been a very good pick up but he went to Nevada instead. Can't lose players from Georgia to Nevada in the portal.

I don't care if they player is from a small mid major conference just want a guy who has experience there and decent numbers.

Great to hear.

Those overseas summer opportunities like that can be boons to a team's cohesion and chemistry come NCAA season time. That bodes well for our fortunes next season.

It can and sometimes can't. It did for the sweet sixteen team after going to Italy. It did not for the team after winning the World Games 16-15. I would say having an experienced PG was the difference in both those teams.

Why so concerned about a PG? One player is not the team. You may have missed Brownell's post season press conf. In that, he spoke very highly of Josh Beadle who was redshirted last year (his Freshman year). He's been part of every practice and has had a year to get to know the system. Brownell thinks that he would be a good prospect as the PG. He'll get the opportunity to get his feet wet in France. The sky is NOT falling!

The last freshman starting PG to take Clemson to the NCAAT was Demontez Stitt in 2008. God rest his soul...

The last freshman PG to start his freshman season was Al-Amir Dawes. They finished 16-15.

If a freshman starts at PG hope it is RJ Godfrey. At 6-7 has a great handle and he and Sheff are the best passers on the team by far. Godfrey played PG a lot for his HS.
