When we have the bases loaded, or at lest a runner on second, and our batter has a 2-srike count, why do we not instruct the batter to choke up on the bat and try for a simple base hit, not a homer? That is what I was taught when I was 15 in Pony League.

Homerun or nothing. I have seen a little bit of small-ball this year, and it has paid off when we've used it. I'll never understand the way he coaches hitting, but I hope we continue to win this season. I fully expect us to go back to the "all-or-nuthin" style of hitting that hasn't worked (except sporadically) over his coaching years at Clemson.

Caden Grice, dubbed our best hitter preseason, is currently hitting at a .250 rate and hits a HR at a rate of .063.

However, his strikeout average is .438.

That is mind boggling. In nearly half of his at bats, he doesn't even put the ball in play.

What is the launch angle of a strikeout again?

It is not just Clemson. When is the last time you saw a drag bunt, a suicide squeeze or a slap hit into the hole created by a defensive shift?
