It’s an easier road to the playoff in football as things stand now.

"as things stand now" is the key part. I believe Lincoln Riley will start winning the woeful PAC 12 and getting hyped for the FBS playoffs as the networks would love to include the west coast in their audience. The BIG10 Champ will always be in the conversation no matter how many eggs they lay i.e. Michigan last year and the 31-0 thumping OSU took from us. Then there's always the media love for the Neutered Dames (losing Kelly to LSU may impact their success). If more programs become competitive I see the perennial second SEC team to be the first one out but if the ACC doesn't represent well or there are 4 strong conference champ + ND you could see the ACC champs left out.

The question isn't what are the benefits? The question is will the SEC invite them to join? Clemson can leave the ACC, even inquire about joining the SEC but unless the SEC extends an invitation Clemson ain't going nowhere.

The ACC holds the television rights to Clemson Athletics through 2036 even if Clemson joins the SEC.

Answer a question with a question. Other than spending millions of dollars to break their contract with the ACC, have football, baseball or basketball results improved at Maryland? Second question, where would we go that we could dominate in football like we do in the ACC?

Great question and Maryland is a good example. I'd argue that it's been an overall decline for them. They'd occasionally have a decent football team. Had some good years in baseball and basketball. Definitely opposed even if another conference offered.

Grant of rights pretty much screwed any chance of leaving the ACC. Personally I think we'll see a new division within the next 10 years. Top 48 or so programs breaking off and having their own governing body and rules.
I think you already see the beginning of this with what the SEC did with Oklahoma and Texas joining the league. But I don't think that all SEC teams will make the conversion to the newly formed league.
IMHO it will be an mix of the traditionally best teams from each league with the addition of top teams from certain states and ND.

Easy
South Carolina decided to leave the ACC
South Carolina ALWAYS makes the wrong decision. If you need an example, see ANY media reference to the "University of South Carolina" but a prime example is when a elected official refers to it as a "dumpster fire".
Never do as coot do.
Does a tiger need more?

Do you see the check catches every year from the SEC??? That is by far the best move they've ever made. And they don't have to win a single game.

Serious, and I will do it with song(s). But the jist is this. The goal is to win. Not to get a paycheck. In some cases, the coots are just providing a willing participant for money and in some places that is called prostitution.
Coot football can be described with two songs. First, Broken Bell's Ghost Inside.

She sold her love to a modern man Good solid currency's the hardest to land All of that money helps you cover your ### Don't let the ladyfinger blow in your hand Did it all For that dollar She's a star tonight Without warning She gave up the ghost inside Just like a whiskey bottle, drained on the floor She got no future, just a life to endure This good samaritan is shakin' her hand Too late to leave here, now the song's in the can Give it up
Second song, Two Door Cinema Club. "Bad Decision"
Save me I've been drinking wine And I just made a big mistake Happens all the time Slay me Come out from the dark Sold my soul to television Different kind of art We'll be okay We'll be okay, ah We've got the time Gonna work, it's worth it, found the perfect crime You don't need to know what everybody's thinking Looking back at yourself Fighter pilot vision Outside the line Oh, come to me my fantasy tonight I'll apologize for everything later I'm addicted to you And I make bad decisions
